Excuse my ignorance here, but did the/FD indicate these cars were made to run in fuel dragster cl***es? I knew about A, B, and blown fuel dragster cl***es, but can not recall seeing a C or blown CC cl***.

NHRA put the early cars on fuel in the dragster cl*** because they had no cl*** for them.No official Funny Car cl*** in NHRA existed then.
Think Gene Snow won Comp at Indy.

Looks like a car that was just built similar to the Psycho to me. A lot of guys put late model bodies on their Altereds so they could run match races as Funny Cars.

the "psycho" mustang originally used a fiat body , and held it's cl*** record . it was powered by a 427 ford wedge , and it always looked to me like they just dropped the mustang body on the original ch***is . one of the mags featured the car back in the '60's . if anyone is interested , i can post the photos .

P.S. - but i'd still like to know about the "orion" . love that purple !!

    Jack,
I don't know anything about the Orion Mustang ... I've seen pictures of it but I was never interested in re-bodied altered/funny cars ... so I never really paid attention. I imagine that it was a local car ... CA maybe? Sorry.
