Len Silvers out of Dayton Ohio. Not so much of an AWB as an early funny car as the body was the first fiberglass Dart shell from Bob Mangold's B & N Fiberglass, mounted on a tube chassis. The engine was the hemi out of Silvers' 1965 Super Stock car with Hilborn injection and the trans was a Torqueflite. Silvers also owned the formerly Maynard Rupp driven (again B & N bodied) Chevoom for a while but after battling the ill handling beast to runs in the high 7's at around 180 mph he parked it after getting sideways in the traps. No sorry that site just has photos with no captions but it is probably in the new england NHRA div 1 area as a bunch of shots there are on the site not much west coast stuff.
Most of the AWB cars to me look a bit strange. But by far the 50s cars do not wear the look well at all.
A wheelstander. After the MoPars had such great success with AWB Coronets (and the like) FoMoCo jumped on the AWB wagon and they had problems keeping them on all fours. The crowds loved'em soooo the promoters started featuring "Wheelstanders-Wheelstanders-Wheelstanders"!!
