Has anyone here gone with an 'outside the box' waterpump application? Reason I'm asking is that I am trying to figure out if a Hilborn or Enderle type fuel pump would work as a waterpump. I have this real cool timing cover on my 392, it's an old Keith Black one and in really nice shape. The fuel pump / waterpump would be a neat touch if it would work. I would assume that some type of additive would have to be added for lubrication in the pump, but other than that can't figure out what the negatives would be. Any thoughts......
Frank, Speedway still sells a cam driven water pump. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Cam-Driven-Water-Pump-Kit-and-Components,3266.html
Big yachts use a similar style of positive displacement pump all the time. Mainly on the suction side for raw water-cooled systems. http://www.michiganmotorz.com/crank-mount-water-pump-p-300.html
