I love to see suspensions that are a little bit different from the normal transverse leaf. I think that there may be something warped about me, but I just love the idea of building something that pays homage to Millers and orphan car companies. I've been looking at a book called "Cars of the Thirties and Forties" that shows many different long-forgotten types of suspension, and it's got me thinking more than usual about alternatives. Right now, I am building an underslung setup, but I'm always thinking about the next project, and I'm pondering the idea of trying out something a little bit different. So, anyone got some up close and personal pictures of oddball setups? How do they drive? I'll throw in pic of my pile to get the ball rolling.
Ummmm, yeah, I know. The first two pictures are of my car. I am looking for pictures of other types of suspensions.
There's that 60's setup they used on T-buckets. The single coil spring mounted in the center of the front axle. Looks like *** and i'm sure rides terrible.
A real lightweight car (T bucket) might get by with a torsion bar and friction shock setup like a '60s dragster. This would look better if the front end was stretched a touch. Probably not going to generate too much lateral g, but smooth and kind of zoomy on the right kind of roadster. I have seen these done, but I don't have any pictures. Sorry.
