Breaking down the water into it's separate components is easy.
Low level electrical current passing through the water will accomplish that. An extra alternater will do this.
You will end up with Hydrogen (which will burn) and Oxygen (which will aid cumbustion).
This is something that Ihave wanted to try for some time now.
I'd be interested in the specifics, too.
    PM me.

The cracking is easy, yes, but I was refering to the amp draw. Bigger amp draw = more HP draw = more fuel burn. I'm not saying it won't work, it just seems dificult to get enough gasses for a low enough energy draw to come out ahead (because you would have to come out ahead energy wise to increase fuel economy, and that keeps triping the over 100% eficiency / perpetual motion / snake oil alarm in the back of my mind).

Please, if it is working for you (any of you) I would love to hear about it.

This will be last you hear of this from this guy.
No pictures, no figures, no drawings.
Nothing I would want more than someone to come up with a cheap homebuilt alternative.... someday maybe.

The Mythbusters did an episode where they built one of these from internet plans. Busted!

Not saying it can't be done, after all your battery produces hydrogen when charged, that's why they explode if you spark the cables taking them off. Hence the warning labels.

Not sure it's backyard tech yet.

If you drove 50 miles without the gas gauge moving I would check to see if whatever contraption you created has blown the fuse to your gas gauge.

The problem is, you can't get more out than you put in, so you have to have a store of hydrogen somewhere.

If you use solar + wind to generate the initial current, and have a way to store it safely, then you could do it economically. Running with a tank of water and doing it on the fly would be very heavy, I would think.

Go on youtube theres a few people doing this already.
I have been playing with propane conversions on my lawn mowers.
Its unbelievable how simple that is.

If you could electrolyse the water, w/NO heat generated, it might be a wash, in terms of efficiency. The problem is, and I'm searching for a useful metaphor here, any added process heat/energy lost, is like adding another radiator, to reject heat. Did we move any further down the road? Nope.

There's no way you could run on just "cracked" water. As someone pointed out, it would take more energy than is released by burning it.

However, gasoline engines are pretty inefficient. If burning HHO along with the gasoline (and ambient air) somehow improved the efficiency of the engine significantly - more than enough to offset the power draw to "crack" the water, then no physical laws would be violated.
Gas engines are something like 30% efficient - the rest is released as heat. Double the efficiency and use half the gasoline.

48fordcoe posted this same thing over on the ford-trucks site. Same vague description too. No pics, no info, just that he did it. Now I'm waiting for him to start charging for the plans.

Yep, Hydrogen cells have been around for a while.
    Here's an early one...

I read about NUCLEAR REACTORS on here last week ,so I look in to it .Any one can make one ,if you can build your car you can make a NUCLEAR REACTOR. I put it on my truck yesterday took a drive .It take off for the stop light and excellart so smooth LIKE A NUCLEAR SUBMARINE.. I had to pull it out last night to put a vent in THE FUEL ROD PACK..put back in today just got back for 50 miles drive my needle on the gas gauge did not move BECAUSE IT IS BROKEN... the hard part is finding all the things to make it, LIKE PLUTONIUM....I'll be passing a lot of HOT AIR ... so look in to making one so you drive right by too....:) do a lot of reading before DETONATING it up

at the webster Fl swap meet sunday there was a guy with a running chevy six on a trailer with a fuel cell hooked to it,along with gas.
its used to enhance the burn.
its a cool idea, and i'm going to build one just for fun.
he also had an el camino running on it too.

Is it so hard to believe? Maybe because so many of us want to believe. Those video links to youtube are a little scary. It hurts my soul to think that the technology COULD be out there and so many of the world's problems could be solved so easily ... but they couldn't be because our energy dependence has us so tight by the balls and why would companies that clear 9 BILLION dollars per quarter in profit want to give that up?
Sigh. I think I'm going to go run over my own head now.

The effect sounds eerily similar to what the mother earth news posted about running their stuff with a bit of water vapor (and some extra air) with Ron Novak's 'water injection kit' . I always figured it was more a case of getting all the crap out of the gas path on an older engine. Oh that was in 1979 BTW.

    Lets see some blueprints

  28. The answer is quite simple ---yet it goes against human nature---

LETS SAY HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS WORK 75% AS WELL AS THEY ARE SAID TO DO.

OIL COMPANIES ARE OUT FOR ------PROFIT-------OIL IS JUST A WAY TO GET THAT.

IF ONLY A FEW MADE HYDRO-CELLS, THEN THOSE IN POWER WOULD EITHER SEEK TO SWEEP THOSE COMPANIES UP AND MAKE A PROFIT, OR CRUSH THEM ALTOGETHER. AFTER ALL, THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS ALREADY IN PLACE, THE ADDICTION TO OIL IS HIGH. MONEY MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE EXCHANGE OF THIS TECHNOLOGY HAS TO BE NON-PROFIT AND WIDESPREAD. THEY CANNOT KILL US ALL, SINCE "WE" ARE THE MAJORITY, THE SLEEPING GIANT.

WE HAVE A CHANCE TO CREEP INTO THE AMERICAN CONSCIOUSNESS WHILE THEY ARE ON A 'GREEN KICK'. IF WE GET THE SILENT MAJORITY ON OUR SIDE, THE HEAD IN D.C. WILL BE FORCED TO COMPLY.

BINGO---ANOTHER BOSTON TEA PARTY. For the purpose, not the history books.
