Alternator mounting

    trying to figure out where to mount the alt on my 28. running short water pump (350) Looked at the low mounts, but it would be really tight, don't wanna mount it on the side where it will hang out past the rad shell, and I don't think it will look good mounted on top. What have you guys done? Any pics?...Scott

    looks like you ran out of places to put it!, ive seen them mounted off of the yoke on a drive shaft (pullys and a belt) but you dont get any output from the alt when you not moving. ive seen a few guys find a foreign unit (sorry) thats alot smaller, then you could mount it below. i put mine down low on my 34 pu and had to grind some metal off of the casting to get any adjusment out of it but it works, also if you make your own bracket you might be able to tuck it closer to tne motor.
     
  3. Scott,I hung mine out the side on my roadster then mounted my oohga horn on the other side to even it up........Shiny
     
  4. I mounted mine on the crossmember of frame [on drivers side] on my ol 29RPU
