My alternator has two wires, a red and a silver. I'm ***uming the red goes to the starter, but what about the silver?

not sure what kind of car you have. all mine always has one larger one marked b for battery, one f for field i guess which goes to voltage reg, and another one that goes to regulator as well i forget what it is marked but it's not a for armature like generator. sometimes a ground, but not always. good luck, i always need it when it comes to electric.

I guess that depends on what kind of alternator it is, and what terminals those wires are connected to.

    Pictures help a lot.
