Looks great David. Was any thing done with these to stop the electrolysis reaction between the steel bolts etc and the aluminium?
some more photos comming up... Cheers Mart. Electrolysis is not a problem worth worrying about on a wire edge. The wings will split and rot in ather places long befor the wire edge will give out judging by original wings I have seen. the paint should prevent any real problems in the area of the bolts. Thanks!. I have the bonnet to do soon (the original is not as good as it looks) The owner bought a bonnet from elsewhere because it was a cheaper option but it turns out it does not fit. David
Old thread but it deserves a BTT... David, my father spent quite a few years restoring MG's, Morgan's and a few other British sports cars. He did beautiful work but nothing near the quality of your work. Well done...
The wood substructure of my 1934 SS1 Tourer was not symmetrical. It was original. One side over an inch longer. They tended to use wood for structure and attachment points for exterior hardware like windshields. Wood not being plentiful in the U.K., they tended to use every scrap. This is not uncommon for many coachbuilt cars.
