    A while back there was a thread that mentioned suitability of aluminum headers, as used by Pontiac's Super Duty cars starting back in 1962. My search efforts failed, so I started this thread.

    This 1963 Hot Rod article by Roger Huntington mentions their limited uses, along with some other SD info. Including pictures of the severe factory lightening efforts done on the frame rails. Un-boxing, and gigantic holes !

    All I know is that it was reported that the aluminum manifolds would begin to melt after sustained use!
    I believe they were only used on drag cars, tubular headers would soon replace them, as they were nearly as light and could be tuned for torque or horsepower
    as needed by design!
    In '63 GM pulled out of support for racing officially, but backdoor programs continued for those in the know!
