I'm going to turn some aluminum for a dash panel. I'm going to use a felt pad and some lapping compound. couple of questions:

    1. should I polish the aluminum first or can I just have at it as is? It's clean, but not shiny.

    2. should I cut the panel first or turn it first. We're talking about gauge and switch holes too.

    3. Any tips or tricks for keeping the pattern consistent? I plan to use my drill press.

    Muchos gracias
