That worked that time!! I am a member of a team that maintains and runs the ex Charles Rolls 1899 Panhard on behalf of a local museum. We are currently researching the early history of the car. I came accross your superb site the other day and had a good read as a guest. Great site and loads of info on early racing and trials in the USA and Europe. There are thoughts that the car is earlier than the VCC dating of 1899 and that it could have a racing history even before Rolls acquired it in 1899. I have looked at three cars with known racing history two of which are Paris - Amsterdam cars with a ch***is similar to the museum car, the third has a dropped front axle, semi elliptic as opposed to fully elliptic rear springs and stronger looking brakes, in fact more of a racing ch***is allbeit with a heavy rebody of a saloon with open drive. There is a fair bit of info out there regarding race results, drivers names, times etc but not car details such as ch***is numbers and sometimes the hp is not listed. It would be great if you could point me in the right direction into the early motoring thread to help my research if such records are available. Also any images of Rolls on this car would be welcome, the museum has some but not many. Thanks.
