How many of you wonder if something is wrong with someone that has more than 3 hotrods/cl***ics? I think my family thinks I am nuts... I think of myself as a collector/admirer of old tin that runs! I have often wondered is it a good thing gone to far? A savings Plan that you can enjoy? A money Pit? What are your thoughts?

well...no, you are not. i have three and looking to pick up two more and one of those is the wifes i got her hooked as well.
Some people like ball sports, going downtown, going to movies, watching TV, keeping their yard nicer than the neighbors, an so on. They need other people or things to be entertained. That's a problem IMO. I'm just fine.
what is sick to me is people with no interests. sports people are a strange bunch as well. unless you are going to the games or playing, your hobby is watching TV. no different than some housewife watching the soap operas every day.
I used ta think so. Till I heard of guys with hundreds of cars and trucks. Just today heard of and saw pictures of buldings with over 600 cars belonging to one sick puppy. Look at Leno and those other sick millionaires. Like other deseases, money can not protect us from this dreaded illness. In fact money just makes it worse, kinda like a druggie or alcoholic. I am getting over it in my old age. Down to six old vehicles and only enough parts to build a few more. Wife doesn't mind. She purnt near always knows where I'm at and who I'm playin with. She's always said it's better than me hangin out in some run down bar with ******s. Yes, there are late cold nights in the garage when I do let my mind wander to the local ***tie bar or house of ill whatever. But cars are my addictiion and I'm proud of it. At least I admit it and that's half the cure. Medication, consuling, religeon, nothing helps. Don't fight it. Live with it my friend. Remember, when you feel you've hit bottom and are thinkin about another project, the HAMB team is here for ya!
more than 3? you mean thats not normal? i'm up to 4 now. three of them you can turn the key and go down the road. it's no different than the guys that are into fishing, hunting, golfing, boating, harleys or what ever. it's all about the same money really. just comes down to what you want to do. now, lets see some pics of that wonderful merc in your avitar.
I don't have any cars currently, but have had a few at a time before I would not call it a sickness just a love for something most people won't understand! Now I'm sick because I had to sell all my cars off to get into my house! Thank god for the H.A.M.B and the app. For the iPhone now I can live vicariously through it till I get another project!
Way better and healthier than going to the Bar after work every day or wasting it buying lottery tickets.
That's another symtom. But that's a good thing. I have six. Four not running. Aaaaah! I feel better. Actually four run. They just can't go anywhere right now. Now I feel bad again! Talk about a money pit. Ya ever own a boat? And it sure beats sittin on hard aluminum bleachers in the rain, sun, or freezing cold tryin to see a bunch of overpaid strangers a 1/2 mile away chase balls all over the gr***. Or chasin your own balls around on the gr*** on some fancy golf course. Or spendin a fortune to watch a bunch of trained horses run two minutes around a go cart track. Or a bunch a skinny dogs chasin a fake rabbit. And on and on. Just who are the sick-o's? Ain't me!
Unless you, and/or those of us with multiple vehicles, are neglecting our other serious responsibilities, I think of it as others have stated, a hobby. And one that compares favorably with many other hobbies. We do no harm to ourselves or others, contribute to the economy, offer some entertainment value to observers and lastly, we get a lot of satisfaction from our pursuit. Sick ?............maybe........but I think of us as just very involved! Ray
Exactly, the cars keep us out of trouble, well maybe, maybe not. But with cars your either on the HAMB, in the garage, or at a show/swap meet. The money you spend in this hobby goes to a finished product: A running and driving car that you can get in and enjoy. And no your not sick.
If you are on this forum, you are sick, but no sicker than every one else here. Good or bad news is there is no cure. I am 63 and still hooked. Pat
Its all a matter of perspective and what else would you do with your time instead of build and drive hot rods? Would you rather Golf instead?
Those golfers are NUTS. Like any sport, you will get worse as you age. At least with cars, you will gain more knowledge as you get older.
Yes, your sick. But aren't we all here on the HAMB. I have 5 and still "need" at least 2 more on my list.
