This photographer has balls the size of basketballs, check out the sequence he shot. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ly-escapes-crushed-runaway-drag-race-car.html
Wow I would have shit myself! Reminds me of a thread recently from Aussie (I think) of something similar but i couldn't find it in the search function.
WOW. Thanks for the link. I have been waiting to see his sequence. I've seen other photos showing guys that were standing 50ft away running for cover but this guy stood his ground like a true pro. I wonder if he's been to Iraq or Afganistan. Here is the thread i started www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=418047
That sequence of pics is crazy scary looking. Bet the photographer is looking at it thru the lens and not the naked eye. The depth perception is very different and he didn't realize it was that close until he reviewed the pics later. Saw some pics recently in a magazine (probably Hot Rod or Car Craft) of a Dodge P/U that LITERALLY chopped the tree down at Indy. The truck turned into the tree and took it out.
Those pics are something else. Not worth risking your life for however. The starting line is a dangerous place, you should keep your wits about you when you are there...
An old friend of my Dad was a free lance video photographer. He was filming footage a couple feet from the guard rail at a dragstrip when a nitro car blew an engine. He caught several pieces of shrapnel in his back as he tried to dodge the parts. He had a couple surgeries and months of recuperation. His injuries led to his early retirement as he could no longer horse the equipment around anymore. He never did completely recover.
I was half write the thread i was talking about was the one posted by Kurtis. He is from Aussie not the footage, oh well i'm wrong again. Great video!
has nothing to do with balls and more about a slow reaction time. how many frames per second does a pro camera take? the whole thing was over before he could say "oh shit". lucky bastard.
Man is he one cool picture taker. I would have been slipping and sliding in my shit trying to get away from that wall.
That car may have been capable of 250 mph but he didn't even reach the 100 ft mark. That had to happen at about 80 mph. I still agree, I would have been long gone from where he was standing.
The only thing that is scary is how this so-called "funny car" looks and the way "professional" nhra drag racing has turned out and is heading. Thank you very much.
