  1. Amen good show but there was a 63 ford there in the same class as zokeys and John D;s caddy as It was an outstanding car! but it was pro touring not custom very nice again well detailed! but not a custom.
Unless your a BJ guy and anything other then stock is a kustom, but not my Idea my idea of a custom. the tri 5 was nice but so was the outstanding 54 chevy upstares the paint on the 54 was the best I have ever seen ! I have to take the show for what it is.

I know exactly who John Buck is and I'm going to disagree with you. He does need to get it, and I'm talking about the big picture here. To be able to delegate to the minnons properly, the leader must "get it" and "get" every aspect of the business. You can't properly promote something without "getting" the whole, complete picture.;)

"Getting it" is a matter of opinion . I'm sure he thinks he gets it. I don't like it either , but we can't all like the same thing . It may not have a Carson top and skirts , but it's still a custom .

For me personally, I'd rather have REDLINETOYS ride.

Hit the nail right on the head!,...Ryan, time to make another one of those trophies!

  6. I'm up for doing a HAMB Custom Award! I think it should be done at the GNRS just like the Roadster Award. I'd do it for you,Ryan. PM me if interested. I go every year and can get all the great contestants pic's. there's lots of great Custom guys who can pic their favorites at the show.

    from nowhere...

What kind of asshole would "judge" someone's car? They do that out there??? The hell you say? :)
What kind of evil entity would serve to attach, based on the sheer amount of uneccessary meddling involved, a degree, or iconic stature to a mere expression of someone's taste, in accord with the current ( o.k., sorry...in this case, 15 years ago... ) trends, and clients buying power?
For shame...lets all go to the races instead....:D:rolleyes:
Just not NASCAR (tm, all rights reserved, inc...) please...

Remember what SST used to say about corporate rock???
Well...it goes for hot rods and customs, too.

Screw an award....my REward is driving, every day I can, and seeing all the nice scenery this country has to offer...
I'm glad we don't get all juiced up about giant accolades around here...we just, ummm...how was it put again, "I Like Hot Rods".
    :p

    Old Sub,

Thank you for catching the typo we had on the award. It should read "1936 thru 1948 Vehicles outward appearance must be in the true spirit of a classic custom."

Cleatus - The 55 was chopped 1 1/2 inches. While not a traditional custom the judges felt it was the best overall custom in the category by car show points.

"The overall winner is determined by a point system from the judging staff."

Denise. "Never Has Never Will" is a pretty low blow. Did I run over your foot or something?

Maybe not literally but figuratively......when someone sends you a personal email wanting to help you promote your event free of charge on the worlds leading tradtitional hot rod and custom website, you either A: don't reply (AKA 2008) or B: reply to the email immediantly skirting the question (AKA 2010). To have more then one person's point of view, or event coverage, of your show on a internet message board is a good thing, but you "don't get" that part of it.

Well, John B. If you had handed that car the trophy for best modern street machine I don't think anyone on this board would fault you but in our eyes it is not a custom.

It may be time to put away the white gloves and pick the custom that is the most ascetically pleasing as a real custom and forget that it may have a tad bit of dust on the crossmember because it was actually driven.

I saw photos of customs that were in the show on Hotrod Hotline, Here on the H.
A,M.B. and in a couple of other spots and some of them really spun my wheels but the 55 Chev was just another 55 Chev street machine be it a very nice one.
