Im always amazed when I see this thread resurface! I couldnt tell you what was in the glovebox off hand, but it must of been when toad and the bitchin chick were in it. either at the burger stand or at lovers lane.

A little off topic but its still Graffiti.Well I have been building my Graffiti Coupe for a while now but I finally got to see the old girl in person. Its been rough working from pictures.I drove up to the wisconsin world of wheels. Got to talk to Lemat. It was pretty cool. I dont think I will ever understand the shroud of secrecy that surrounds this car I mean its not the Holy Grail....ok yes it is but I just want a sip. If you guys want to see "The B@tchenest car in the valley" in person Its on the circuit Penn,Ohio,Minn.Next three dates.Let me know if you get any good pics!!!

American Graffitti, it hit me like a ton of bricks, it was the way it WAS! specially at that time, place and scene. It was like the movie had been made in and around my town, and the cruzin scenes were as if it was right down 'E' street in San Bernadino. The train sounds, and wolfman, i remmbr we cud hear him all over town as everybody had him tuned in at the same time! The guys and gals cruzin on a hot summer night, gettin someone to buy us some booze, ha ha. There were the same stories which had happened in Riverside or Colton, the cops waiting to catch someone. a variation of that actually happened at Rubies in Riverside, one night. The cops would drive thru to check out the happinings, and give us th eye. And as they cruised thru, somebody got some rubber and hauled ass down Market st. the cops jumped on it coming out of the driveway, and did a complete 180 across the street because of the oil somebody had poured down earlier.

as much as i can remmbr is that if a 55 Buick was raked hardly at all the headlites would be too low. And VW,s were illegal stock! and they checked the ground clearance with a pack of cigarettes.

Since we just missed the 4th birthday of this thread, I thought I'd share someting I noticed. Milners coupe is often referred to as "The fastest car in the valley" outside of the movie. Has anyone noticed that this is never actually said about the coupe? Milner himself says that line in the junkyard with Carol about one of the cars in the yard. (A '41 Ford?)

And where he is now Top Dog, I guess that there is an assumed inheritance of the Title.

I remember that scene and from what I understand there are conflicting reports of what exactly happened. A broke axle kinda makes sence.

Before he got into the movies what professional sport did Paul LeMat participate in?
What allergy put Lemat in the hospital during the filming?

  17. Paul LeMat was a golden gloves boxer. Vaguely remember reading that he went to hospital but have no idea why?
    Peanuts? (Wild guess)

I think Steve and his girlfriend were pivitol to the movie. Most of us knew of a jock guy(s) in high school who had a nice muscle car(but had no real true interest in the car) and was in the "click" that we was never in.

The coupe was already chopped when it was made into the AG coupe. They DID take off the fenders.

Also the tuck and roll interior was already in the car as well but it was white with red piping. They vinyl sprayed it black for AG.

What were the words above the airplane door at the end of the movie?

  23. Actually, when Falfa and Milner are doing the trash talking ("your car is uglier than I am!"), Falfa says "...that's supposed to be the fastest car in the valley. But that can't be it, that must be your mother's car..."

Words above the door were "Radar Equipped" LeMat was taken to the hospital during filming because he had an allergic reaction to some walnuts in a salad.

Just down the street from Jerry's Cherrys is the previously mentioned movie theater. What movie is on the marquee?

  25. i watched it again last nite and theres one thing i`ve always wondered about the film and thats the time of nite that all the events take place, especially the bit where toads puking up...i`ve always thought that that bit was the early hours of the morning and if so why would the old couple, who comment on him looking like their dog, be walking out at that time of nite

This was the first movie I ever saw in a theater that wasn't animated! The older kid next door took me to see it. So here's one not asked yet. Teri told Debbie he had the Jeep. What else did he tell her he had?

Supposedly,Harrison Ford was a roadie for the Doors too.He really got around?
For an excellent read, pick up Wolfman Jack's autobiography. He talks about the early days across the border in Mexico....He was a giant of character amongst the AG cast.
Johnny Weissmuller Jr was one of the guys in the fight when Milner pulls in.
