I did a memorial burn out on Frates Road on my return trip from the LA Roadster’s Show.

  5. We’re there now! Cool to see it on the big screen. With only 8 others!
Had to drive an hour to Bristol, VA, but it was worth it.
Great picture, although not as sharp as modern digital, and great sound!
I was geeking at the cars, looking for details I missed on the small screen.
Lots of scenes brought back pleasant memories, as I graduated HS in ‘64.
Particularly noticeable was how pretty and sweet looking the girls were then. Neatly dressed in their Villager and Lady Bug dresses, No piercings or other body decorations. No rainbow hair, hoochie mama clothes, cell phones or other modern day trappings. Ahhh, nostalgia at its finest.

Headed out in 30 min. to meet up with Gkids, buy $50. worth of total junk food, take pics of all of us in hot rod T shirts, spill cokes all over tshirts, get sticky candy top to bottom, attend movie, deliver kids back to parents "not feeling so well". I shall go home for long shower and HUGE adult beverage.
Then think what a hell of a fun day.

  7. Sounds like a great Sunday evening…

Going to the seven o'clock show in St. Peters. Would like to take the car, but not sure it would be there when I get out of the show! Wish this was at the drive in. Just got home from the theater. The 55 lost again! Really enjoyed seeing it on the big screen.

Just got back from seeing American Graffiti, I think they have enhanced the picture and sound or it could be just me!!!!
Still a great movie for me, a nice trip down memory lane of seeing it the first time aged 15.

  11. Sounds like a great time, all of you going tonight. Maybe you can stay 17 forever. LOL.;):)

  15. Just saw the 4pm show at Regal Springfield Mall in N. Virginia....the only showing. Wife and I were two of only seven people in the theater. There was absolutely no advertising at the theater. Unless you knew about it from online searches...you wouldnt know it was there. I own the special edition DVD with both the original and the sequel...but was looking forward to the big screen. Havent seen it in big screen since a rerelease in the late 70's...so I really enjoyed the enhanced video audio. Wife was familar with the music from my soundtrack CDs...and was digging the sock hop scene...she made a comment about how much the situations have changed since the innocent 60's...girls getting into cars with strangers, a pre teen female riding with an older guy, etc. Cest La Vie.

Just got back from the theatre 30 minutes ago. Had to drive up to Fredericksburg (an hour+ with traffic) closest place showing it near my city. My dad was 16 with his whole life ahead of him when he saw this in a theatre in ‘73. He rented it for me on VHS 27 years ago when I was 11. It was a really special experience finally seeing it in a theatre with my old man. Annnd, Universal or Lucasfilm sharpened up the picture a great deal and really cleaned up the volume on the dialogue and sound effects. It was so awesome and over too soon. I hope Universal cares enough to re-release it in another 25 years. I’ll be there for sure!

Darn it. I wanted to see it yesterday but ended up having to work. Now there is a little hurricane headed to Florida which might cancel the show on Wednesday. If the forecast is correct I might still be able to go, very doubtful I’ll be able to drive the hot rod though.

Saw it last night. Just as amazing in the theater, as it was when I was 16! I might even go back and see it again on Wednesday night!

It's in the theater about 40 Mi away from me and I believe it's on a Wednesday so I didn't go but I went to the local theater last night because it was the $4 cheap day. Me and the girlfriend and two kids went to the movies and the place was packed with teenagers, not good looking ones , needless to say while we're in the movie fight broke out and the police were called and shut the theater down. Turns out that we found out later it was a brawl then involve 60 kids! Makes me not want to go anywhere in the AV. Luckily I live about 20 mi away from all that drama in the Hills but it keeps creeping closer

I understand your feeling and share the pain. Get this, last night the Chuck E. Cheese I used to take the grandkids to had an all out brawl--like 60 grown men and teens going at it. Cops came, broke it up and then it broke out again in the parking lot. I'm sure those little sweeties didn't have any guns around they could get to quickly-otherwise this story would be on national news. IF I was even going to build a rod again and drive it around here, I'd seriously consider some armor plate and bulletproof glass---who the hell cares if it weighs 4 tons! Dual turbo Cummings?

Was thinking ( a rarity for me)-someone is missing a good opportunity. If there was a big rod event for a couple days, imagine how popular a showing of AG or another of the type would be -to take place in the late evening outside. Be a great crowd also, no kids or punks. Lot of fun.

I went last night. About 40 OG's in there with me. A couple of pre-60's cars in the parking lot, but not many. The movie was great, though! Digital with enhanced audio on the big screen and a special price of $4 to get in! Made me realize that it's actually a good movie. Very wholesome with some pretty good acting. Brought back a lot of memories. The 'hop' scenes were all filmed in my high school gym. A couple of the extras were kids I grew up with. Peggy (Kathleen Quinlan (Quinny)) was in my biology and history classes with me in high school. Paradise road is now surrounded by a golf course and condos on both sides and all the cruising spots are very familiar to me, both Petaluma Blvd and San Rafaels' 4th street. The wife and I had an italian dinner before the show. All in all, a pretty good date night!
Oh yeah.......if anyone goes on Wednesday, stick around after the credits. They have a couple of outtakes that you don't see on the original.

Went last night with my wife. There were two other guys in there. Bunch of teenagers started sneaking around in the theater making a lot of distracting ruckus until we ran them out. Reminded me of why I hate going to see movies. But, it was fun to see on the big screen.

We saw it yesterday too. Maybe 15 people in Independence, MO theater at 6:00? Sound was good and I had never seen it big screen so lots to look at. I knew every word coming and every scene so the excitement was less than hoped but the sound was great as was the picture. Agreed that with no advertising, no one comes.

Did learn that popcorn and a drink sets you back $18 and a large pretzel and pop was $26.

I attended Sunday afternoon, 4pm showing, Plainville, CT. My friend and our wifes had a good time, our wifes had never seen the movie, they enjoyed it. Just before I sat down I announced to the people that were there already that we were going to be noisy; no one showed signs of disapproval, got alot of smiles and a few chuckles and thumbs up but my wife shushed me:mad:. We weren't too bad. At best there was maybe forty people in attendance, thought there would have been more. Parking lot was full, did not see one Hot Rod. Of course being $4.00 senior citizen day [maybe for every one?] probably packed the lot but not for AG which was $15.00 when I bought tickets a month before onlineo_O. Fandango is asking for my opinion:rolleyes:..

  30. About 35 of us went, been a long time since a large part of the crew was out and about. Pretty much filled the small theater about 10 miles outside Atlanta. We booked a restaurant for lunch followed by the 4PM showing. Only one old car amongst us, it was 99* and the wives like A/C.

Christine the killer Plymouth is coming back up to the theater next month for a 40th anniversary showing. Starts September 10th and runs only 4 days.
