Somethimes the bull is good. the one episode where the guy said that it wasn't his problem and then Boyd came back and got on him about it. That was the best. I am kinda partial though since I know the guy that said it.

It was the guy that was welding up the rest of the exhaust on the tub right before they realized it was not right.

He is talking about Barney. He and I are good friends, He is from central Ohio but moved out west about a year ago to work at Boyd's. I am pretty sure that was not staged it was cl***ic Barney at its finest. Several years ago Barney had a bad *** 60' Studebaker Lark that was black with red wheels that was HARD on the ground. He ended up selling it to finance his trip to Cali.

Ditto. I can't stand to watch the show, because there's just something about that guy that chews on my nerves... reminds me of this ***hole boss I once had. And they seem more like ***emblers more than builders....

I had to put up with it then.
I won't put up with it now.

Up here,American Hotrod comes on right after American Chopper.
Which is fitting, because I can't watch either one.

And since Rides, and Junkyard Wars, are on at the same times,it's a no brainer.

I am with you guys.Boyd is a ***.I never like the way he gets on.never met the man and don`t think I`ll go out of my way eather.I would love to know who made him.I alway heard that he would rase the funds to build a car(other people money)and get some master builder to put togeather the car and he`ll take all the glory!!

You got that right cl***ic Barney. Sad thing is, he usually does killer work, he just had to share his thoughts at the wrong time.

I'm waiting for Justin, the paint guy on American Chopper, to get his own show. I'd much rather watch the work that goes into those paint jobs than to watch those guys heat/bend/drill round rod. [IMG]

  22. Agreed! That painter Justin is the biggest talent of all those shows combined!

That Justin guy is one talented sum*****...

He does kind of look like a Hobbit from Lord of the Rings, though..

  24. I went to a "Goo Gays" Show in Pleasanton CA and it was full of the lawn chair "I'm better than God" Billit boy at***ude..., when I hear over the P.A. ..., "Boyd Coddington to the Awards booth"...,"Boyd Coddington to the Awards booth please"...! (he almost broke his arm patting himself on his back)

Self serving, name dropping, commercialized retirement party for high dollar billit *****s of the aftermarket industry..., ***holes like this taking credit for their laborers efforts!!!! (almost as bad as listening to Pres Clinton!!)

Since that time I've not followed the Streetrod scene or TV shows with Boyd in it..., I find their show (as well as "American Chopper") as self serving..., pros***uting their Cookie Cutter ideas onto the public as original and High dollar art forms!!

Case in point..., Donald Trump asked Pauly SR on the "Tonight Show" how much one of his choppers is worth and without flinching Pauly said $500,000 dollars!!!! (for a bolt together aftermarket kit with a couple of bars welded on it???)

Guess I'm jelouse and I should "Shut-up"..., "God Bless" America when you can squirt some paint on a kit and sell it as high dollar art..., "**** That"...!!! [IMG]

I would much rather hire "FlyRite Choppers" to build a bike that'll turn more heads and would Kick *** for a lot less!!! [IMG]

It's all about perspective and how you see things. I never see these "at***ude people in lawn chairs" people speak of so often. I actually have a hard time finding the owners of the cars I really like. And the is no "Awards Booth" at Pleasanton or any other "Goo Gays" events- but nice addition to your tale. I bet somewhere in a parallel universe people are complaing about the fact that there weren't enough BILLET RODS at the Round Up and how ****ty the at***udes of the greasers are.

I remember reading about Hot Dogs by Floyd back in the mid-eighties as a kid. I thought his **** was cool, then. I also had a mullet, wore T&C Surf Designs shirts, and had neon Oakleys. Trouble is, Boyd's stuff still evokes that same tired, tasteless style and I have moved on. I've seen a commercial for his show, and that's the extent of my interest. [IMG]

I try to catch Rides & the Boyd show. Don't watch too much tee vee, hell, takes me an hour & a half just to read what interests me here every night. Both beat the hell out of all the survivor queer eye apprentice batchelor ******** that is on tv. Anything car related is good but I like all kinds of cars. I drool all over the remote seeing all the tools these guys have. Besides, if it were not for the high dollar car guys spending money lobbying lawmakers, SEMA etc poor people like me could not legally run their POS on the street 'cause we would be outlawed. I'm happy they are there. [IMG]

You're right JimA..., I was venting a bit..., no awards booth but they did have a media tent!!!!! [IMG] And yes the announcers made a big deal of calling him up to the tent as well as other notable builders!!!

I guess what it all boils down to is that I was disappointed seeing all of the "Static" displays (and yes the at***udes) instead of the "Drags" and flurry of activity that I have seen at other "Goodguys" events like at Indianapolis drags!!!!!

Shows such as the "Round Up" aren't just shows..., they're Events with tons of "great music and cruises around the town", and I'm sure you'd find it pleasureable to go to a show where the at***ude may still be there but takes a back seat to the event and the peoples hospitality!!! [IMG]

Hey..., I'm 47 and have built, restored or modified over 180 cars, 25 boats, 15 motorcycles, and two Airplanes of my own and have helped probably as many folks with their projects. I have attended every type of motorized vehicle shows all over the world..., and it takes more than walking through an outdoor museum to thrill me anymore!!!! [IMG]

My memmory as well as a couple of other functions have greatly been diminished over the years..., and yes the older I get the faster my cars were..., but they were fast back then and still are by todays standards when I look at those faded E.T. slips!!!!

And so far I've never been mistaken as an adult "Time Out Doll" at any show I've been to...! [IMG]

"Oh..., and Jim"..., I heard you were looking for me at that show but I wasn't around my car all day...!!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
