Of all the GNRS rules, I think this is one of the most traditional,
And doesn't have anyting to do with money, just details.
Indexing tire names with the wheels and turning them to read "up" at shows has been a no-cost show item for as long as I can remember. (since at least the late 50's)
I think the crest opposite the "Firestone" was used to line up the stem.

Also, It was common to leave the valve stem on the original side when reversing rims so the stem would end up in back too.
Not a problem with drum brakes, but calipers tend to shear them off... ;)

Of course I doubt that this car even had any lettering on the sidewalls. They have likely been smoothed completely. Foose even had custom cut tire tread on the last ambr. Not sure about this one.

Indexing in this case might only mean that the wheels are all turned the same direction before the car is dropped down on the tire/wheel stands.

  3. Thanks Lenny, Laconia was alot of fun.Steven Peirce was by the display as well, good to see him there. Thanks for the comment Bob. I believe in having fun with my car and I love to drive it. The judges probably noticed the stars on my rear fender. Not good for points but good for the flatmotor. The people were fantastic at this show, being my first time on the west coast, I had a great show..Time-Bomb John

Alot of good points and opinions in this thread.

Well the heats been on for an hour now in the shop- it should be nice and warm and full of smelly kerosene fumes. Time to go grind down some welds. It will be good to drive the truck again this summer.

The winner of the AMBR car is no more concerned with my build than I of his.

And I like it that way...

Billet is traditional and old school now, 1990 was 20 years ago! parachute pants and triple white fox body converibles are coming back! (vanilla ice)

The sad thing is, is that the real traditional style that we love is being turned into a trend by rat rodders, and dorks that think their '83 gmc with black primer, white walls and fuzzy dice in the mirror is a traditional hot rod. I cant wait until we get back out of the mainstream and arent considered cool anymore. Then, the aforementioned can move on to what ever trend is next and we can get buisy fixing the rat rod atrocities that they built, making them into tasteful traditional rods again. Let the gold chainers have AMBR, at least that keeps them busy trying to "out bling" each other, so they arent up our asses trying to imitate our style with their primered fiberglass former-easter-egg-flavor-of-the-week "old school rods".
