Werner Carlson, founder of the Amherst, NH. flea market about 1961, p***ed away in November, his wife recently sent out letters to all vendors that they will no longer be a flea market, I was a vendor there for 42 years and I will surely miss it. Henry Diorio
There's a couple threads going on this if you want to get in on the running discussions: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/amherst-nh-swap-meet.965813/ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/amherst-werners-field-of-dreams.966703/
Not much to discuss- too bad it's gone. Who's gonna come up with a NEW plan ( and hopefully one that's 100% AUTOMOTIVE)?Amherst was getting kind of watered down with "yard sale" **** the past few years, but there were still treasures to find, and a lot of people I used to see and BS with that I will miss. Fitchburg is THE place to buy and sell. Still only $30 bucks in advance to vend (20 X 20), but a short day 7-12 or 1 . Been going for years; made ( and spent) my first million there. April 19th . Also a smaller but very good Model A show at the Maynard Elks Club on Powdermill Rd. Mar. 29th. Another short one, 7-11 or 12. Always some nuggets, coffee and donuts, and car talk which we all need after this winter!
Found some info posted today while looking for the MOA show & Swap in York Me. It appears that NE Dragway is apparently going to fill some of the void as are some other venues. Here's what I found on Hemmings posted by Maynard M*** AAC. Dates times and phone numbers are included. Can't vouch for the accuracy. EVENTS LIST - Cl***ic Car Clubs | Hemmings Motor News
