ammeter

    There are some who would rather have an ammeter on the dash, than a voltmeter -- but having heavy current flow through a meter (as in the old days) is less than desirable.

    I stumbled on this Hoyt 763 meter that doesn't require connections:

    The legend on the dial may not be what you want, and you might have to glue it into your instrument panel...

    I have no relation to the seller and have not used this myself... just something you can consider.
