    I think it was 24 shillings. I was 9 year old when the decimal currency came in. For a while we learnt both imperial and decimal.

    An Aussie expression for someone who is "a little slow on the uptake" is that they are "not the full quid". Sometimes referred to as having "kangaroos in the top paddock".
