That’s why it’s a good thing we have nine lives or most of us would’ve been gone long ago with an 8 car limit in one life lol

He was a cautious man, He always stayed in the shade,
He never smoked, drank, gambled, or laid a maid,

And when he died, his insurance was denied
They said he never lived, How could he have died .

  7. About 5 to about 10 years ago I was doing a lot of wheeling and dealing in 55-64 Chevy rears

I was set up at the Leabon Valley Speedway fall swapmeet with a few complete center sections marked with the ratios. A guy went right over to them looked over at a 3:50 open I had asked the price and took it.

About two hours later he came back wound up and said, "This is a 57 Chevy rear!"
    I said "Yes it is."
His reply "Well I need a 9" Ford!"

I gave him his money back.

Two weeks later I was set up at the Malta (Albany-Saratoga) Speedway swapmeet I took a quick lap before setting up and noticed a guy with a bunch of Mopar stuff, I went to the concession stand got a coffee and B.S.ed with some buddies before I headed back to set up.

As I was headed back there is Mr. 9" Ford with a 3rd member at his feet and wallet in his hand at the Mopar guy's spot.

As I got even with them, I heard the selling say, "That's an 8 and 3/4 Chrysler. not a Ford."

I shook my head started laughing and kept walking.

When they came out I would have approved of all '59 Chevys being backed out of there. Now I love them.

My dad was a scientist and always wanted be to follow in his footsteps. He gave me a similar kid's chemistry set that had the formula for dynamite. It didn't have any of the ingredients although I did try to find them. Things were different in the late fifties/early sixties.

  17. You must know some complete different type of young people than the ones I see and know. They don't just take risks they are flat out reckless in their actions and behavior.

  18. This looks like a modern version of the 1946-1948 Chevrolet that Joe Bailon built in the 1950's.

When you find these the sulphur bottle is always empty. The only thing we successfully made were stink bombs.
The early Erector Sets had powerful electric motors that chewed off several finger tips that got caught in the gears. Toys aren't what they used to be. How about the projects in the old Cub & Boy books?
