You sir are a sophisticated Red Neck not like the run of mill red necks I hang with.

A Red Neck would use baling wire. Ask me how I know. My dad told me that if it wasn't for baling wire Texas would float off onto the Gulf of Mexico.

  4. I didn't know Pearson smoked in his car, but Richard (Dick) Trickle was famous for lighting up during cautions.

Yep and baling wire is traditional, cable ties are more for the billet crowd.

Don’t forget about Grumpy chomping on a stogy banging gears, hard to tell which he is enjoying more.

And here we always just used the blue wrench to heat the coils and make them sag. No points for this mod. We don't reward sloppy and they didn't trim the tails.

  10. Good eye, I didn’t pay that much attention.

Maybe he's not low enough yet. If you snip off the tails, you can't easily pull them any tighter. You have to wait until the test drive.

  12. I had someone in the U.S. check out a 47 Fleetline for me. He arranged to meet with the owner, and was to have a look and take a few pictures to send to me. The car had a nice ass-down taildragger stance, and looked OK in the ad.
The owner didn't see the " inspector" waiting across the road (who had got there early, with camera in hand), so when he pulled up he started to remove the lowering kit (about 6-7 bags of cement) from the trunk, he had his photo taken. They were the first batch of photos sent to me, I wish I still had them! (The car was a proper 30 footer, with NO interior, so I gave it a big miss anyway.) Every time I see a pallet of cement bags now, I always think of that "poor man's" lowering kit!

I think he has that propped on his dick. I'd like to see who he is looking at that made it all possible.

This just reminded me that the local Harcourt boys used to use blocks of granite to lower their early Holdens (FX and FJ , 1949 to 1956 )
There were no speed shops round here and lowering blocks cost money and the granite blocks could be had for free from the quarries on the local mountain.
Was talking to an old-timer recently . and he was telling me he used to cut one coil off the front springs with the oxy while still in the car!

You'd need to put more cinder blocks on the front fenders to get it lower to pull the zips tighter wouldn't you. Ya smellin' what I'm steppin' in?

You have underestimated the creativeness of some rednecks. Cinder blocks are not the only way to add weight to the car to compress the springs. In fact, adding extra weight might not be the only way to compress the springs more then they are in the picture. Some of those red neck boys think entirely different then the rest of us.

Talking to an elderly weldor one day, he spoke about working, early '50's, - the line at Ford.
He told me while training a new hire, he got objection.
The hiree "said you can't make welds inside the frame"
He turned the flame to more than six inches and said "Watch Me"
