I to have been using Bob's parts from day one on three of my 40 Fords. Never a problem and a professional to deal with. Will see you in Portland in April. Yes please become an alliance vender and give us Ford guys a break.

Mr. Drake: My personal experience with your company is limited, but a customer service manager of yours told me years ago that if I didn’t like the way Drake ran his company, (which I did not,) I should “take my business elsewhere,” (which I did.) That was in the early 1980’s. My few attempts at buying odds and ends from Drake since have been at best a series mediocre experiences. Overall, I am not that impressed with your company’s idea of customer service.

About your first post, your letter is arrogant, inappropriate and condescending at the very least. It could also be construed as a personal attack on Lawson Cox, a person I do not even know. As others have mentioned here, this appears to be a personal matter between you and Mr. Cox, and has absolutely no place on a public forum.

As for the responses here that are supportive of you and your business, be assured that for as many that are feeling all warm and snuggly toward your operation, an equal number have had bad dealings with you.

Perhaps you have felt the same economic squeeze that everyone else in business is feeling today, and decided to drop in on the HAMB and try to get some new customers. In my view, your letter is a cheap shot attempt at accomplishing this goal while bashing someone else.

So why don’t you do a proper introduction like everyone else here who respects the rules has done, then see what your vast hot rod knowledge of traditional cars can bring to our humble assemblage?

Thanks for hearing my views. GA

I agree ,his first post is a personal rant if it was any other newbie you guys would want to hang them.I would bet it was the only reason he joined here although i hope I'm wrong .Maybe he will stay and get input on parts rodders need.

  4. I agree with all of these guys! And why don't you man up and hire folks to staff the rest of that call center that sits empty? WTF? What is that, 9 phones wired in and 2 salesmen? Yes, former employees here are active participants of the board..........................AND HAVE DONE INTROS and contributed.

Ha! What's the point of an introduction? I think the title of the thread is enough. What do you guys want to know, what he named his dog? We all know who Bob Drake is and what he does.

You guys are just too harsh.

  7. The point of this community is that everyone is on equal footing. Shit in shit out, you contribute good content and get that back. To show up and slam a CUSTOMER w/o context is pretty petty and lame. Bob is ass worn because lots of folks here have posted about his/and others use of Offshore manufacturing.

That said, Bob has done a lot for the hobby. Glad to see him on here , do it right and intro and contribute.

Maybe a phone call to Mr Cox from Bob would be more appropriate than dragging the HAMB community into it.

I agree with Tman and the others he quoted! The rest of you sound like a bunch of high school girls kissing the cheerleading captains ass on facebook! Its rather pathetic than an "upstanding" business man comes on to the HAMB and his first post singles out an existing member, then spams us with how his business runs! Mr. Drake, as far as I am concerned you have added nothing positive to this board by your presence....Great business move.

You have a valid point Trent but i think in this case it was not needed.

Slamming others on forums is part and parcel, it works both ways.

Maybe your comment alone will entice him back, although i doubt it.

  11. I know Lawson Cox. Good guy. Retired attorney, knows more about old Ford trucks, especially '35 and '36s, than anybody else I know. I count him as a friend. His brother, the late Felix Cox, was chairman of the pastor search committee at Woolford Memorial Baptist Church in Baltimore when I was called as pastor there in 1989, met him for the first time when he came up to visit his brother. Bought a NOS radiator from him for Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup. Don't know Bob Drake personally, but I have bought a lot of Drake repro parts, some directly from Drake and some from other vendors who had Drake parts in stock. Very satisfied with the quality of the Drake parts I've bought. Don't know what Lawson's experience has been with Drake, I can only speak of my own experience, which has been good.

Putting the best construction on everything, assume both are good guys who have a difference of opinion. That said, proper way to deal with it is by PM, not calling out someone in public. Lawson's response on fordbarn made himself look good, and Drake look bad. I know neither person, BTW.

  15. OK Bob, i bought some rockers from you for my 37 pick up about 1985 and they did not fit, when i called i was told " oh you have to do some mods on them to make it fit right" well i still have the rockers and they still do not fit (the truck got put on the back burner while the kids were raised) and now it is next up to go together, are you going to stand behind these? I will be awaiting your response

    PS Welcome aboard.

  16. Ive dealt with and talked to Bob at many events in the Northwest,He has ALWAYS BEEN a stand up guy,I was a member of Rose City Street Rods for nearly 25 years and many guys there felt the same way...Thanks for showing how a gentleman responds to someone throwing crap at them. And if someone here thinks Im a "kiss ass" then you damn sure dont know me! I dont know how or where he gets his stuff made but that none of my concern since I driving chevys again......................Meatball

Oh the drama! This is too much like high school girls. Maybe some of you should dedicate your lives to serving the needs of others in the hotrod community. Government regulations, lawsuits, whining and complaining narcissistic arogant customers, R+D of components, long hours and weekends gone away to shows and events, to do what... help and learn from his customers to make a better product? And what do the PC police do? Kick him in the teeth.... geeze.... get over it people!

Are you SERIOUSLY asking someone to stand behind something you bought TWENTY SIX YEARS AGO? Holy shit man, not even Hyundai has a warranty that good!

To be honest, I think its kind of strange to post a lengthy message to a user on this Board, who has barely contributed here.
( 3 Posts, if one of those was his Intro that leaves 2 for content...)
