    Hello,

We had a 65 El Camino that was only 3 years old. Our original two cars when my wife and I met were the El Camino and a funky 62 Corvair. Those cars lasted as daily drivers and the El Camino was the long distance road trip vehicle. So, when we got up, we knew what was going on for the day, my wife got the first choice of vehicles.

Then, there was one… If it rained, yes, in So Cal it does rain… then I drove the 62 Corvair.

But, when we got the 327 powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, it became our daily driver and my wife still got first choice as to which one “she” was driving for the day. It was the oldest car left, when we gave away the Corvair to her uncle. We no longer needed the Corvair and it went to a person in need.

Unless of course, a photo shoot of a hot rod or custom motorcycle was on the books, then the 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery was the transportation of the day. A connection to the owners of the hot rods and/or custom motorcycles was important. The sedan delivery fit the moment well. Plus, it had tons of storage for all of the photo equipment.

But, on any other days/nights, there was no question of who was driving which car. The newer 65 El Camino or the 327 powered sedan delivery. The sedan delivery was the first choice, since it had A/C.

In the summer, that was the first choice of both of us, but you can guess who drove it to run errands, visit friends and go shopping… yup! Then, there was only one choice left…

    Beautiful view and 51!

There was a time about 10 years ago where my fleet consisted of my 64 El Camino, a 63 Corvair, a 72 240Z, a 70 F100 and a 55 Chevy 3100. I could drive a different old car to work each day. The wife had a 10 year old Suburban. In time I learned that those cars owned me, not the other way around. They always needed something. I got tired of it after a while and pared down the fleet, and bought a late model 15 year old junker I didn't have to mess with regularly so I could enjoy it more when I did. It had gone from being a hobby to a job.
