I'm not new to anything aside from finally joining this forum. For the past 22 years, I've been drag racing a '65 Karmann Ghia, which began as a 14 second street car, and is now a 9 second "street car." Late last year, I handed it off to my oldest son. He rows through the gears quite nicely! My role is Pit B!tch and advisor. It still has mechanical fuel injection, and as a young'un, he is an EFI guy. So he's getting an edumacation! Current project is a '65 Ford F100. I've had it about two months. 300 inch inline 6, which will stay. I gave away Warner 4 speed, and a T5 five-speed will take its place. It is getting dropped beams and rear spring hangers with 17 steel wheels and center caps, and front discs with power booster. It'll be a driver. I already have the machine work done on the block and head, and the motor will stay fairly stock and is ready for re***embly. It'll get the late model split EFI exhaust manifolds, and an Offy, Clifford Or Aussie Speed intake and most likely a two barrel carb. A half lifetime ago, I was a machinist. Now, at 66, I still do a lot of metal fab, so many of the skills I have acquired throughout my life will be put to use once again.....even though stuff takes longer to do!
Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. The pickup sounds like a great project. Here is a thread that you might find interesting. As it is long, just read the posts by the owner/original poster. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/xo-pp-bonneville-project.1091049/
