“But by 1969, when the show moved to Crow Canyon, Andy was getting 475 cars through the gate, and his little picnic had become the place to be!”

“The Crow Canyon Picnics Andy and Sue Brizio put on were the stuff of which legends were made, and still rank high on "best all-time events" for some folks.”

    Hello,

When we rolled into parking area of the Crow Canyon Park, it was a hot rod overwhelming moment. There were too many cool looking hot rods gathered together in one spot. It was a moment in time that despite the hot weather and dust, the gathering was going to be a good one. But, having to park on the outskirts of the lot, it was a long walk toward the center of the park and longer walk back.

There were some hot rods we acknowledged from seeing them at other shows and in some magazines. But, there were also plenty of hot rods that were well built and needed to be seen in magazines.

The best spot to check out everything was this centrally located activity center. Hot rods cruising by in front and to the side, some of the nicest people were taking a break from the hot noon day sun and the whole scene had the vibe of a big time hot rod event.

Damn Junji, you really are a ‘60s California kid, and a cool one at that. I got to know some of those beautiful hills summer of ‘66 when we lived in Castro Valley and this 13 year old was all over those hills on a dirt bike.

One of the reasons I love Todd’s Andy’s Picnic threads so much, never went but it takes me back to a special time and place. Just dig these threads so much!

Love it. Got my driver's license in Feb. 1969, what a glorious time to be a teenager set loose on the streets of America!
Guys like Andy were the gods of Cool. California Cool was definitely where it was at.
