Hot Rods Anglia Drag Car

Anyone remember seeing this Yellow Anglia in Upstate NY or PA back in the day?

 

Rich Carlson is (or was) the official NHRA Division 6 photographer. Sky and trees look like the PNW, and it looks to me that this photo was taken at Arlington Drag Strip, Washington State. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

From what I've learned this car was raced in Ohio, possibly Dragway 42 ????

 

Dragway 42 would have been four-wide drag surface back in '66./ That doesn't look like 42 to me; its pretty flat around Salem OH.

Bad chop job imo.

 

The Gary Lewis Willys was a west coast car. I agree, looks like the Pacific Northwest.

 

The car is mentioned as the "Scotty's Drive-in Anglia". Racing at Puyallup Dragway in Washington state. On page 39 of the Larry Davis book G***er Wars. Could someone have seen it in Ohio? I am sure a lot of guy's went to the g***er capital trying to prove a point.

 

Just for the record, Salem Ohio is home to Quaker City Dragway. Dragway 42 is located in WEST Salem Ohio, 'bout 80 mi. apart.
Dunno what track that pic is, but we do have our far share of pine trees and hills in the ole Buckeye state.
