I am thinking again which is always dangerous. No secrete I have a couple. I am wanting to see how everyone out there put transverse leaf /straight axle/hair pin set ups in
    AND
How those of you that used the coil overs did it.
Any experiences that you guys can throw in is a plus.
Yes I have had a transverse set up before but not this narrow. ( batwings at 30 in) so I am figuring a 26? Wide spring minus a leaf.
I have a 4 inch drop axle ( 42 king pin to king pin. From WAK.
I have both coil overs /and leaf spring set up -I am looking to see cleanest and steadiest. ( Everyone knows the little animals have an evil tendency if things aren’t watched close.)
I like to see what everyone has done. Can’t get better than you guys.
    And Happy New Year.

I built mine with a MII IFS on one and an Opel GT on the other, but here's pics of the original ch***is (with a narrowed '37 Ford axle), if that helps. '37 axle 01.jpg '37 axle 02.jpg '37 axle 03.jpg '37 axle 04.jpg '37 axle 05.jpg '37 axle 06.jpg '37 axle 07.jpg

Thanks FTF. I have seen a ford econoline axle and a Chevy early 60s cube van axle shortened. Using parallels.
I am at a toss up on whether to stay with the transverse or go to coil over. I have a couple of axles to chose from. I narrowed the axle under the Prefect. And it also runs parallels. As does the Kadet and Willy’s. The nature of a transverse is duley noted over the years but I still see a lot in race cars. I even had one on my first front engine rail no issues per say.
I have to get the tires under the fenders on the Thames like the others. It bugs me badly.

Personally I would do the above
With cross steer and use a Panhard bar parallel with the drag link

I have everything to do that just comparing and looking. Mr Langdon kept them up there didn’t he.

One of the hardest issues on the Anglia/Prefect/Thames is getting the front tires under the fenders, while maintaining good steering and engine / ch***is clearances. On our first Anglia build my son and I chose an Opel GT transverse leaf front suspension. It was almost narrow enough. At the risk of getting this post banned for being O/T I won't post a photo of the suspension (think Corvette transverse leaf). But you can see that it could have used another half inch or so of inset. Maybe a wheel with another 1/2 inch of inboard offset spacing would do it. (We used Vega front rims).

I get it. I narrowed a previous axle left over from another project in the Prefect. We narrowed a 4 inch drop axle we had for the Kadette also.
But you are correct. The Blair’s Speed Shop car has the coil spring set up and I can mimic it but I am going to use a cross steer box with the arm turned forward and keep the cross rod etc behind the axle. I am looking at 3-3 1/2 inches travel max on Thames.
