Here's a thought:eek:, why don't you go with some wheels more friendly to the main HAMB forum, then you can come back and play on both sides, many of us are welcome there.
There's a lot more than Cragars and American five spokes to be had.

I’d take it out at the transmission end, so it’s disabled. Plug the hole in the trans of coarse.

The wheels look like Weld Pro Stars. If your wife likes them, then that’s the most important thing. Enjoy the car. I think it looks great.

got an issue with this car, and I know the answer..... speedo cable making noise... looked under the dash... bird nest of wires every where... can't even see the cable... but gonna ask any way.... is there an old guy trick that I don't know to lube the cable??? probley the only way is to somehow get in there and take the four nuts out that hold the cluster on the dash??? then be able to un screw the cable from the speedo???

changing the wheels is gonna require changing the rear end, the one thats in there is too wide... i have a v8 comet rear that about 56'' or so.. super hard to come by, so i was saving it for a 32 build...

If I could take the cable out,... I could just lube it... speedo works and is dead on to radar.. but sounds like a ticking lifter.and makes the needle bounce

Cut down , weld ends back on ,
Can be done with out removing complete rear from vehicle,
Jig not required as long as you take your time and think things through.
May require a cut to fit axles

I would just take the 60'' wide rear out and put the 56'' in...

Last year or so I pulled the Speedo cable out from the dash end, lubed it, and put it back. Works fine. You just have to be patient and get your hand up there (unless the connection is frozen). Go gently thru the wires, it’s easier to knock a light bulb out than to get it back in. Look for cracked insulation while you’re there. If it original that can be a problem you need to address.

thanks, went over to my sons..and I say.. back in the day... cars only had 12k warranty.. so you would stick your hand up in the dash and the un screw the speedo cable and drive it till you had to take it in for service....he saays... so are you asking me to un hook the speedo on the t bird.......yeah... I'm too old and fat to do it...he gets in there and says.. someome put a loop in it under the dash, so a minute latter,.. he had it out...i was able to pull it through the fire wall... I tried to pull the cable out but it was budging .. so I sprayed it with wd 40 pdf...figured I'd see about getting a new one , and see if taking the loop out fixed it first....so when I drove home... the cable was quiet... but the speedo still jumped a little...my son says they get a little fray on the mettal and it rubs ....??? we'll see.. but partial fixed now..

  17. I've heard of people using dry graphite down the speedo cable, not sure how that would work with the wd40 though

Larger front sway bar and a rear sway bar make a big difference in the way they handle. Radial tires and the sway bars made a big difference in my 57 Bird. There was a guy in Oregon that made up front and rear sway bars for the little Birds, but I think he retired. His company was called Quickor.
