Hello Bangermaniacs, I just get my "supposed to be" B ford banger but this one is very ... strange !! As you can see there is no ford mark on it, just the F with a K. It's already with insert (look like it's a factory job) it's got a counterbalance crank, and aluminum oil pan. The cam timing gear is in aluminum too! the bolts are a mix of standard and metric size. The old man I bought it from, told me the engine was in Belgium, was a static engine for the belgium air force .... who knows something about it ????
German...G Ford Germany, 2=1942 revision with inserts, 8=this series of engines. T=truck. G28T...VERY desireable banger!! I want one! I have the shop manual...contact flatordead in Finsterwalde for parts. This was made until about 1955 in trucks...Germany made regular B, then another improved B, last this version. Many were delivered to France by wehrmacht, others sold after the war. There is a Danish Model A club site with some info, more is scattered around this site: http://idisk.mac.com/forever4/Public/index.htm#assorted
all right Lancelot, you can call me arthur now Thanks to all of you for your soo fast answers .... I don't even know about this engine. I was told about an old urban legend about german boat with insert banger, but very far to beleive it ... the 2 web sites are greats, 90% on the answer I need are there I was looking for a B engine during 1 year, just one old guy told me he had one....and for cheap ... I went to Vegas and Reno bunch of time and never won a dime .... Do you think I should watch my wife closer ...
Thanks Bruce for bringing me up in this case. Pierre, this is the best engine you can get for your purposes. Just keep an eye on the bearings. As cool as the nonbabbitt deal is, when they are gone you shure go diggin gold. I had several g28s and a good amount of parts over the last 15 years, but did never hold a set of nos bearings in my hands. The other thing is the rear part of the oilpan, its slightly different to the model B engine. The model B pan kit won't fit youneed to cut your own gasket. Otherwise call it COOL.
