Technical another 32 3 window...Assembly and heavy chop

FYI Brookville offers louvered trunk skins.

Man, I'm digging this.
Help the clueless (me), you could literally build '32 coupe body with all the body panels available nowadays?
I know you need a frame for reference, but I see a schematic used too. Where can I find a detailed schematic for all references? or is it fit everything, check, make adjustments, take apart and then, start building?
I like those wood jambs in the first photo. Did you use the side panels as a
reference to cut these?
Sorry for all the questions, I think this is all neat. Thanks for lesson, very inspirational.

I don't don't know what ya mean by schematic for building the body ? There are no directions . And don't go into it thinking it's easy this car was tough to get right .

Flop, this diagram, "schematic" or whatever you call it in this picture (supposedly of a '32 frame). That got me asking, did you refer to it while setting up the body? That's all.


Yeah, I don't think it is easy. I've took a basket case convertible that nobody wanted and just about replaced all the sheet metal -along with other projects with extensive sheet metal work. But I liked the challenge. What you're doing is a lot different than what I did, I know. I also know there's more thought and planning than execution. And having plenty of patience.
I admire what you're doing, incredible sheet metal work.

 

That is how Flop rolls . . . he's the man on metal my friends . . . and my 32 Cab and I are very grateful for his work. I think you guys will like the next thing he and I are cooking up! LOL

 

Thanks . This had to be one of the hardest cars I've had to build . That paper was just to check my frame Jig to a ford frame to the frame the cars going to sit on . Can't wait to cut yours up Dale ! Should be a little easier then this haha !

Very nice , your work and attention to detail is outstanding. I dont understand with all the interest with people building "cool" 32's that the chop isnt offerd from Brookville or others .Would definitely keep the weenies from bitching about chopping up an original.

Hammered I'm guessing to many variables and the skill and time required to do so without filler . Someone is always gonna be expecting more then they will get . So why go through the headache ?

A pillar brace is in holding the skin in place parallel .





Dropped the body line back to stock location so it isn't going uphill because of laying back the pillars .

Great job Flop. Question on the weld dressing, do you grind with a disc to get it close then file to flat? Do you use a D.A. after? I ask because of the lack of file marks in finished pics.

I'm in love with that chop.... that how every 3 window should be done.

 

There's been several comments in the last few years, about how this cannot be done, without using filler.
I smile when I read them, and think of guys like Flop doing this sort of finish.
Loving seeing this one come together.
