Can't help myself, should have quit with the last one. My last Cornhusker chassis, Flathead from Frames, Brookville body. To much of a good thing. I'll have a complete PDF listing everything included with prices soon. Krylon32
@krylon32 Thats a Unique water pump , That is ,Like 50 Flat Head , Just wondering , Does it feed / balance both sides evenly Temp wise , I guess it would if running thermostats @ top of heads , probably answer my question. Just asking , what will make this one more diffrent then your other Black Henry roadster for sale , I see more laidback windshield. Different Engine ,Trains
That's a 348/409 W Chevy water pump. I would recognize it anywhere from years of playing with those engines.
Thanks , I am assuming that's been around for a while, just not notice . Those Windshield Stanchion, are they Designed So frame will not movie pass that angle downward any further @ speed ? & Brand ? Does any one know with windshield laid back that fair @ 6ft, does it have Glare focus issues like the Lamborghini Miura for driver ?
Your correct about the 409 pump kit, been making them for about 30 years. Several differences from the black car, 4 most obvious the black car is an original body, Motor is a 300 hp SBC, and the black car features a real Auburn dash, and the windshield is a 3 inch chopped stock style vs a Wanless laid back unit. I have no idea about the glare factor. Eddy, when you have time join my thread with a few pictures of your current build for comparison.
Eddy: Thanks for your reply. You picked 2 perfect examples of what you would like. After the roadster above has reached the complete bare roadster stage and all the sheet metal is fit and it's a roller I hope it finds a new home. Following right behind it is another 32 roadster with the interior and doors lengthened 2.25 inches. It will be full fendered. I have literally every part collected and in a local storage shed. P&J's chassis, Brookville body, UP sheetmtal, Sid's Bop Top, powered by a 300 HP 327 thru a 400 turbo into a 9 inch rear. It recreates a Yellow roadster I built in 1979. I'll keep pushing until I run out of money.
Following your skill level is encouragement for me. Thanks for the chassis photo's you emailed me, gave me some new ideas for the '27 T coupe I am soon too start.
Well done, I often wondered how many events the flathead chassis that showcased your craft in the earlier years attended...looks to be a refined example of years past.
is that a "Y" where the fuel lines go to the pump,... also will you be putting a panhard bar on the rear???
also,... will you get this all together... then blow it back apart and paint???? and will it be shiney??? or primer/satin???
Please share what the waterpumps are and specs. Is this something bought or do I need to buy some aluminum stock to machine one out.
ALLDONE: The fuel system is custom made for me by Baxter Ford Parts in Lawrence KS. Everyone he's done for me is a little different and they've all worked great.I've done countless 100's of buggy spring with ladder bar rear suspensions thru my years in the chassis business and have never needed a rear panard. You simply need to do your math and have the rear shackles end up at a 45 degree angle when loaded. As for the final finish it will not be painted or finish upholstered. I plan to attempt to sell it naked for the buyer to finish. A complete PDF listing base prices with all extras will available when we're done.
continentaljohn: The water pump is 409 Chevy. The mount shown is a custom mount my machinist made just before he retired. I have been offering the complete 348/409 to Flathead Ford pump kit since the mid 90's. You may be more familiar with the production kit as it uses the stock Ford style biscuit mounts and puts the motor in the stock frame mounts. Complete kit is currently $1095 plus the ride. You furnish the alternator and belt. I have 9 left and that will be the end.
Thank you for the information and since your retired can you please share some more pictures of the parts so our fellow members can carry your ingenuity forward . I love the idea and just need a few details to make mu own and not looking to get into production
mine are at 45 degrees,.. no pan hard front or rear... today she was getting away from me , peddled it thru 1st to get traction and not blow the tires of.... squeeling tires thru second.. and the top of second going to 3rd... it started torque steering real hard.. so hard that I slowly pulled out..pretty sure if I would have chopped the throttle of , it would have got nasty...when it's sitting... i can push the body side to side, with the angle of the trailing arm it makes the rear move like a skate board truck...maybe because it's not posi??? the front is split bones, chrome.... w/ no panhard bar... to fix I guess I would hve to drill a hole in the axel??? welding would ruin the chrome... but I don't know of another option....???? it'll look weird with the nut on one side I think... any ideas???
