Did some horse trading this past week and came up with this 1940 Ford Deluxe 2dr sedan. It's a super solid older rod, 302, C4, 8" rear on parallel leafs, Stang II, More of a street rod style car, but I will fix much of that. Engine and trans run and shift really good, but leaky from several years of sitting. Had red steelies with while walls, but I think the SaltFlat Specials I had look much better on it. It has good points and bad, as stated leaky engine, and for some reason is pushing oil up the dipstick tube ( I hope nothing too major), and leaky front timing cover, wiring all works but is a mess and needs tidied up. The guy I got it from just left the old girl parked in his driveway, so the paint is getting pretty faded and scratched here and there, but I think a good buff, and touch up will bring most of it out. I plan to toss the power rack also leaky for a manual rack and install 2" dropped spindles. There is NO rust ever evident in this car, it is an original OK car. Interior is actually pretty decent, I just wish the stock front seat was still there but the buckets will be fine. It just needs some TLC and a caring hand. I'll probably just put it up for a short while/ next winter as I just got my 55 chev ready for summer and my 40 coupe is ready as well, so really no hurry to get it out right now. Later, Rusty.
Nice car Rusty. Good thing you built a new shop. I bet your glad you didn't build a 50 x 100 shop. Then you would have to fill it. I am on vacation next week, I will make a trip out and check out your fleet. Keith
sweet---and deluxe to boot. mine is a standard but equiped pretty much the same. way to go---another one saved.
Forty Fords are cool. I think most of us would be proud to have that one leaking on our driveway. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with it after a little tune-up.
Nice Car Rusty! - Wheels look great.........drive it to the HAMB-B-Q <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
I never get tired of looking at fortys either, I just traded off my neat old sedan for a 32 ford roadster and I miss the old sedan already. It was a neat and dependable car, drove it home from Spokane, Wash. originally. I'm glad for you, maybe I can run into another one.
Not sur if this one will go to the HAMB B Q, but my black 40 will, or the 55. Depends a lot on the weather forecast. Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm really digging the old car. I got it all buffed out and paint looks much better. I fixed a few little odds and ends already. Still waiting for the dropped spindles and some wiring parts. I need to get it out for a ride, but it keeps raining here! Later, Rusty.
Nice looking 40. I have always wanted a 40 coupe or roadster. Plenty of room for the family and eye apeal too.
nice '40, if it was mine I would keep the power rack, manual racks build the biceps in a light car let alone your sedan. I would also question the need for the dropped spindles, I would think they might drop the front too low. Just my 2 cents.
I like the 40 myself, nice addition to the family! Nuthing wrong with a MII-pretty straight forward stuff.
Nice car - 40 sedans are carvernous on the inside - plenty of room for everything and everyone. Love the wheels!
Nice 40 I am partial to 39 Deluxe or 40 Std I never get tired of 39 or 40's Makes me really wish I still had mine
