Is this going to have a tilt front on it?...maybe I missed that somewhere.

For the time being,no tilt front end. I have a decent pair of stock front fenders that I am using. No hood planned at this time, but I looking for a nice one locally.

Can a stock front clip be welded together to make a tilt? Or would it be too heavy?

They can be ,but they are heavy. I have had a couple of tilt glass front ends in the past, and all have needed a ton of work to make them "straight"of fit correctly.( Last one I bought for a 55 was almost an inch wider at the cowl then the car was!) The way I have the radiator support and fenders mounted, I can remove the entire nose by un-bolting 8 bolts. Also there is plenty of room to work on the motor (and changing the spark plugs is a piece of cake.... :) ).

Been slowly but surely picking away at the body.Ready to come off the chassis( finally) and paint the underside. Hopefully I'll be able to do that in the next 2 weeks.

  8. :cool:Hey Baron-Glad to see you're still at it! I PMed you about a year ago asking for some advice and details, your response helped me out a lot! I was going to wait till I had some good pix of my '57 build to post but now that I see you've resurrected the thread I wanted to thank you again. Its a good feeling taking a sawzall to a frame like that, I was giggling my ass off the whole time! Lots of purists would cringe.. I hope to see more of that Hemi monster soon. Good luck:D

Thursday night I found the time to lift the body off the chassis so I could paint the underside of the floors.
After doing a little finish work on the underside, I primed, then painted black (to seal everthing) and then re-primed the floors. I wanted the floor finished in Red Oxide primer (as they come from the factory in 1955).

Here is the body bolted back on the chassis with the new body mounts. Glad to have this part of the job behind me. Next, on to the roll cage ...... :D

When installing the cage are you gonna go through the floor and weld the main hoops to the frame?

Yes,I am. I had already taken a hole 4 inch hole saw and cut the holes in the floor and trunk for the bar(s) to go through. I'll be posting some pics of the install as I progress.

Looking good Baron, I'm interested in your cage. Don't know what I'm gonna do on that yet. I need to start a thread on my gasser but it seems like I'm always working on it. Keep up the good work.

These pics are from last week. Just spent the last two days installing the cage. Still have to install the door bars and the supports through the firewall to the front end and the under the dash bar.I'll post some pics of the cage in the next couple days.

  25. That thing is tough as nails ! I'd be buying 50 cents worth of gas at a time just so I could keep coming back to stare at it.
