Damned if you do and damned if you don't...just goes to prove you cannot please all the people all the time...personally, the angles allow one to see the WHOLE car close up...instead of from far away...or even clicking on an attached thumb to enlarge...

Thanx for the pix...looks to be a great event...and serious thanx for leaving out all the RR's...I get so tired of looking at poorly built, rusty crap (and that is my opinion)...Yeah, I know, opinions are like assholes...!!!

Here's my build, wish it was done and there : http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build

Great photos! Thanks cause I'm only 70 miles from Austin and can't get to show this weeken.

  9. Great pics thanks for taking the time to upload them. Most of the complainers probably dont carry a camera at a car show and don't realize how hard it is to get a decent shot without some dick face (probably a complainer) walking in front of you or standing in front of the car for 20 mins talking on his cell phone while you are trying to take a picture. I have also found this to be the easiest way around all of that. I realize that everyone is there for a good time so you have too adapt. Unfortunately usually that effects the outcome of your shots.

i have gotta say... you can tell just by the quality of cars the kind of people who
go to the roundup. i gotta make it out to this event.

  14. Thanks for the great pics, but the best of all is seeing that incredible "Canadian Ride" of Jeff Norwell, that far from home!:D Hope everyone has a great time!

That Canadian truck drove in from Ontario!

Stopped in for a hot minute to change. Already late for the Speed Shop's party and ready to drop from exhaustion. Haha.

Should have another 200 pics from this afternoon alone....not including what comes next. There were some amazing rides. Stay tuned!

Endless appreciation for taking the time and effort during the whirlwind & frenzy of a big show weekend to step away from where all the action is, just to share with & entertain us folks who cant actually be there!!!

5 years ago we would have been PAYING for Car Magazines with 6 car pix from a show, 8 months after the show.

When folks want to complain about HOW you take YOUR pix......instead of being grateful for your effort to share them.......I guess they're showin the kind of man they are.

    Anyway....I appreciate it! Thanks!

Man that is hard to look at a picture and not want to tilt your head to get a look at the car like it sets on the ground. I do appreciate how hard it is to get a shot with people every where. You do have good shots!
Not that anyone asked me, however this is a public forum for members to voice their opinions. Mine would be....what is the sence in simply rotating your camera while taking a picture? I don't think it is creative at all. Sure makes the pictures hard to look at.
There is a difference in complaining and voicing an opinion. I didn't think anyone was complaining, just stating their opinion and all seemed greatfull for the effort taken.

Camera batteries (and back ups) are all finally dead. Decided to skip cruising to return and start uploading more pics to make you happy.

    Check that: Some HAMBers happy.

Last time angled shots are addressed folks: Different criteria. Here's mine:

    1. Unobstructed views. Hella difficult to pull off with THOUSANDS of people around. The alternative would be shooting with a 19mm fisheye lens - which curves the entire subject. Given the responses, I wouldn't want to be responsible for sending some of you to the hospital.

    2. Picturing entire vehicle as large as possible. This means not cutting off tires, bumpers, etc. Not as simple as turning the camera straight; which means stepping backwards another 6-8'. Refer back to reason number 1. Why would I enable even more people to get in the way? Again, most times with other vehicles near it isn't possible anyway.

    3. Methodical efficiency. Many of the angles aren't far off from 'normal' actually. The combined perspective of shooting from knee to ankle (not typical head) height is hanging some up. (Which by the way is the gauge for judging how low a vehicle is.) You can stand around a long time awaiting unbeknown sheep to move out of the way. Or, drop low, people see that much faster, and are more prone to obliging.

Set up in the swap meet area myself, I had 20 minutes before the gates opened, then 1/2 hour break around 3pm yet managed to snap over 200 usable shots during the show - in less than an hour! Get the picture? (Pun intended.) Soooo...I do not care if you don't like them; nor for instructions; nor what you would do; nor if your neck hurts; nor any lackluster, droll, unoriginal jokes; nor if they're "artsy"; etc. Been also trying to illustrate a decent smattering across the board - setting personal preferences aside.

Enjoy these for what they are or move along 'lil doggie~ ;)

Now back to the good schtuff!

Seeing enthusiasm is a great way to start the day when still 8 miles out, more than 2 hours before gate opens.

Need a reminder where the show takes place? Haha.

Can't get enough of this fade! Owner seemed flattered. Really looked different as sunlight changed.

Not much exciting going on inside for 5 1/2 hours... Highlights included:

While possessing a Kidillac this early on is righteous in and of itself - this little guy should already be a prospect! Somehow if Child Services were following Dad though they would fail to grasp the ultimate kool factor:

Loved the way he kept turning to check it out each time Dad pulled the trigger. Akin to a dog looking at its behind still confused every time after farting.

6'6" in wedges and *all* woman! Swoon. It is sinking in how I haven't time to shoot models with cars. Grrr.

Huge proponent of Centerline Smoothies. These 20s could have used more profile though.

Too 'new' a style perhaps but the larger diameter does go with the long proportions nicely. I prefer seeing this over '80s rods that are still far more commonplace.
