Hey guys just a little preview...... I've been working on the body, I got the quarters on and I also channeled it 2" over the frame..... I'll do a real update in a week or so. Sorry for the bad photo....
man I wish I would have done things more like you.... Its too late for me to turn back, but the next one will benefit from seeing yours! The wires look awesome with that stance too.
Well thanks austinhunt..... I'm just learning as I go! And yeah the wires weren't my first choice(but I already HAD them), but they've grown on me!
Well it's been way more than a week.... And this isn't as big of a deal as I was hoping(I'm waiting on some rather large sheetmetal parts). But I started getting the rear roof area tacked together about a week ago, and in the last couple days I recut the door a-pillars to get rid of the doglegged-ness and replaced my bashed cowl sides with some from a '29 Murray cowl(because I had them)... I actually really like the Murray cowl bead. Then I patched the cowl bottoms which I forgot to take a photo of haha! And I'm pretty much just tacking stuff together right now because I'm saving for a tig! -Joe p.s. the rear of the coupe is gonna be about 1 1/2" to 2" lower when all is said and done
Joe, looking like progress, don't give up, keep going before you know it you'll have a car! Did you need anything else for the car parts wise? I think you're a good candidate for the HAMB pay-it-forward thread...sometimes you just need that one thing to keep you motivated whether it be a tool or a part.
I'm looking for are a tie rod for my front end, and anyone have a used shrinker/stretcher or bead roller they're looking to get rid of?
very impressed by how creative you are and that your not afraid to just cut it up.no guts no glory.you can finish weld it without a tig.turn down your mig wire speed a little(smaller tacks)and take your time, that way the metal can cool.plenty of us mig welded panels that look just as good as tig.just takes practice.good luck.your doing a great job.
Look at you.. Getting work done! Making me anxious to get my junk all moved down here and wrenching again!
I've done some gas welding on this car, but apparently my bottles are some uncommon size so they need to be sent out to be refilled(and they're expired), and I don't have the dough to put towards that right now(I haven't used them in months). One of the main reasons I want to get a tig is that I don't foresee myself stopping with this car(in hopes that I'll get payed to do this someday), and I figure I might as well get started on some of the skills sooner rather than later.....
I have an AV8 with an H&H built flathead. Nothing but good things to say about it. Mine is an 8BA that has a 4 1/8" crank for 284" It's also balanced and supercharged.
^Maybe that at one point(like six months ago) I mentioned wanting to have my motor rebuild by them? I ended up finding an awesome shop locally though...
Sneak Attack!.... Any guesses on what the windshield area is from? .....Yes that is a center dividing strip, and yes the windshield is slightly v'ed. Mwaa haaha
Man Joe that's left for many interpretations.. There were ALOT of V'd windshield pickups up through the 50's, Chevy, Ford, Dodge..
