Is there any way to eliminate those bolt on balance weights or have the aluminum drums balanced in some other way? Max
i actually had to have a set balanced once beceause the weights had gotten lost at the polisher. the balancer first thought that he could do it by removing weight opposite of where the weights where......but the drums were way outta balance, and removing aluminum just wouldn't be enuff. so we just made new weights to go in place of the old.you can't see them behind the wheel anyway. i thought about stick-on type weights they use for mag wheels, but they would only fit on the outside of the drum,i'm sure they'd just fky off i had them balanced with the `46 ford hubs installed. i had always wundered about the effects of removing the buick hub, drilling a new bolt pattern, turning the drum for clearance, etc had on the overall balance. cost me $40
theres no way that i've ever seen or been told of. I dont really see why you would need/want to. less its for a visual effect. Unless you had drums turned outta billet, then machined, then sleeved.
wait wait wait..now this MIGHT work. Bolt the drums ONTO the wheel, balance the wheel, it will have the same effect as on-car-balancing, and might do the trick, but then you'll have lots of wieghts on the wheel...good luck
