That is exactly the model school bus I learned to drive on....at a music camp in the New Mexico, Jemez mountains
Originally, the camp owner, KL Higgins would haul kids to camp from Albuquerque. My job was to keep the 5 gallon jerry can from falling into the entry stair well or walking its way over to the driver, KL. I would post myself in the stairwell and hold onto the door operating shaft.....There was a long 7-8 mile pull up the highway from Bernalillo to the top of the hill and the bus would overheat....KL would pull over at the top of the hill, my job then was to take the jerry can, open the hood, slowly pour water over the radiator in a manner not to drown the engine, remove the cap and top off the radiator....close the hood, return the can and myself to the bus and on our way....
I sure would like to have this one.....thanks for the tease @51504bat

Anthony, you could have a side hustle getting your students to cl*** in a cl***y manner.

Factory, so as to not interfere with the tires when turning and articulating.

Oh, I get it now. I own a '46 half-ton pickup and after I got done building it the PO pointed out that he used medium duty front fenders on it, which were just half-ton fenders that the factory had modified to accept the larger tires/wheels that the big trucks had by opening up the wheel well opening.
It has bothered me ever since...

He’d probably still sit in the seat and make motor sounds.

From the looks of things it probably had a SBC at one time.

I wonder if he would get carried away enough that windshield wipers would be needed on the inside
