56 T-Bird LF.jpg 56 T-Bird interior.jpg Just got this home, and got it running. It was restored and then sat for 15 years. 312 automatic, the underside looks as good as the top side. 56 T-Bird LF.jpg

I'm guessing too much salt on the roads to put the top down and take her for a spin? And the cold might be an issue as well.:cool:Nice ride.

You have spent your money, very well!
I would assume you bought it from a private estate sale, for a price that didn't drain your bank account!
    That's a great looking Thunderbird !

When I was in my teens and early 20's we used to put the top down, heater on full, in January in Minneapolis.

Those are clips to hold the wire wheel covers on. The center cap already on, becomes the center of the wire wheel cap.

Very nice. I always wanted a 55 or 56. But after restoring several 56s and a 57 over the years for customers I realize at 6'1" early Birds and Corvettes are not a comfortable fit. Spring will get here soon enough, Have fun!!

Yea I am going to buy a 15" steering wheel for it. I owned one in the 70's, and fit fine, not so much now. Cars must shrink over the years.

Love it. Had a cute Blond girl friend in high school 1960 to 62,her Dad gave her a white 57 Bird, with pink seats n dash/ panels, black rug. Was awesome car, really. Susan Summers looked almost as good as she did, close match
. I about fell out of my movie chair, first showing of "AG"> When to me;),there she was in the movie AG :p:D Wow. That hit home !!!

Loved the 55/56/57 Bird's,I put 292 V8="T-Bird" power in my 28A in 1959,and the Full Custom I built in 1960 was a Henry J,with top cut off an lots of other work. Used a 55 T-bird folding top, hooked to Studebaker rear window<as a windshield.

Thanks BJR. I did not know that was how they worked. Never too old to learn!

T-Birds are an odd quantity; they turn up in almost every condition (usually a little shop worn and neglected) but almost always complete, running examples someone simply stopped driving. I suppose older Vettes are the same way but unless they're '67 or older I seldom give them any attention. THAT is a BEAUTY right there.
