Just got my newly painted and polished front sheet metal and grille shell on. Next job is to chop the screen and get the top built, what with the winter months approaching fast. Some sepia action.
Perhaps the pic of the 32 top irons shown in the pics at this post would help: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139593
Looking real good...a totaly pre-war look. And what are those tires? I can't really tell if there an old style bias ply or a small 16" radial that looks good.
I agree on the dropped axle statement, but I've always felt that there are a few too many cars out there with heavy z's in the rear. Once the top of the tire is past the rear quarter reveal, you've lost the stance battle... most of the time... there are a few that look pretty nice this low, but the percentage isn't high... This car is a great example of a pre-war hot rod. I'm in love with it.
Dam I've missed the mark! I'm a pre-war fan, which this car isn't I admit. The wheels are being changed for wires soon and the quick-change...well...eerrmm..theres not alot you can do with that. Does anybody make a quick-change cover that looks like a banjo?!?
I love this car!!!! Looks Awesome!!!! I also really dig the wheels and tires - thanks for the link to the 'tyre' company. What wheels are those and what size tires?
Clarke, I thought that A was a bit special the first time I saw it. You,ve done it the justice it deserved and nailed the pre-war look. Beautiful. Well done!
Clark, this has been on my mind since you posted the pics from on-high last week. What on earth is this stain on your tent upholstery? I notice that it's on the p***enger side....anybody we know?
Its not from that Boy Band member you had with you at the Hayride is it ? Seriouly , she's looking bang on old chap , but if you have the roof up at the Br*** Monkey Run you'll look a right ****
You're seriously going back to wires? Hmm...I like it with the solids, especially with the Blockley's.
Yes, I always prefered the wires. There was no real reason for the change to steels. 16x4 '40 Ford steels with 600x16 tyres in the front and 650x16 in the rear.
I rather liked the wires with disc covers you had on the coupe are they going to make a reappearance too ?
Well, to be honestly "pre-war" he might want to. Not a lot of hot rods had '40 Ford wheels by Dec. 6, 1941. I like the wires anyway... go for it. Great GREAT little car btw.
Maybe, still have them. Just before they were removed I replaced the bad wonky wheel and set it up for the disc. Had it painted black, so have to do the other three to match. Dam, you've got me thinking now! Think I'll go dig 'em out...
Oops , sorry chap , more work for you ! Probably be pestering you for advice soon anyhow , have a little 4 banger action arriving in a week or two ...
Not being picky (Hell, I guess I am) and certainly not having a go at you but WWII started on September 3rd 1939 almost a full two years before America came to the party. Doc. PS, man that is one gorgeous car, I have to agree the wires would look better.
