im Chevy guy,,dad was and so was his,,,for some reason the last car he built wa a53 ford..i was 7 when he got it and fell in love with it,,it set in grandmas field since 1981,when it came time for me to drive ,i got moms 73 camaro,,next came a 1/2 ton chevy truck, then a full size blazer, then a 1 ton crew cab chevy duelly, then a 84 jeep cj-7 after the jeep motor died i put in a 350/350.1 ton chevy axles ,see the pattern? then a chevy3/4 ton 4x4.sold the jeep and brought the ford home to finally build it...
i tried to stay with the 302 that dad put in it..i have to give it credit..that motor set in the car from1981 to2005,didnt take much to get it running and it ran for about a year..when it died i went with another 302/c6...as much as i tried i just couldnt get into the ford stuff.i joined the mustang forums and other ford performance sites.. it just never took...after joining a g***er group and getting beat bad,,,i built a stroked sbc and i havaent been this excited about a car in a long time..this is how i always wanted the car to be...

  3. Well said.

My dad is a dyed in the wool Ford fanatic to the point where it gets ugly and offensive in situations that should be fun.

I've got two old Fords, but have had tons of other cars from all of the big 3 companies. Could give a damn about brand loyalty. I like what I like.

Had them both, GM and Ford. I don't discriminate or show bias.:p

    1. Started with a 1930 Buick, a 1948 GM (Holden) 'FX', a 1965 Holden 'HD' station wagon, a 1971 Bedford van with 327SBC (Similar to old Chevy 'G' series vans, Bedford is English GM - Opel, Vauxhall), 'TD' (Chevette) Gemini wagon. In the meantime I owned a number of Holden Commodore (Opel) sedans and wagons; and
    2. Moved to a 1981 Ford Cortina (English), 1983 Ford Falcon and bought a 1985 Ford Thunderbird (RHD) and then a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA convertible (RHD). Daily driver is a 1997 Ford Explorer SUV.
Back to GM with my 1935 Chevy phaeton and now a 1946 Oldsmobile sedanette.

I went from Hemi's to 2.3 Ford turbo engines and a 235 "6" or two along the line, do what makes you feel good.

Always wanted a Nova or pre-68 Chevelle(liked boxey cars) when I was 14-mid 17. But I was allowed to get my '64 by my parents and didnt know anything about Ford/Mercurys . So after all the looking up I did on them, finding out the racing heritage of ford, I fell in love. And through all my research it made me appreciate Dodge/Plymouth, B.O.P, and even AMC to an extent. So I guess Im more of a Ford guy, but IMO chevy has the best body lines. And EVERYBODY likes a Chevy but I choose the unbeaten path lol :D

  8. Im a car *****...........loyal to none, just like them all. :D Except ricers.
Ive owned 35 diffrent cars, several trucks and bikes, as well as 3 trikes.
I am about to buy an English Tiumph.
My 30 model A still isnt going, and i need a driver.

  9. Does it matter? I like them both. Ive had a lot of GM cars that were great to me, but now i have 2 Fords. One is my DD Truck and they're both solid.

  10. I wouldn't piss up a GM, or Mopars *** if it's guts were on fire. Ha ha.

  11. ive owned pontiacs, fords mopars 1oldsmobile and 2 chevys my grandpa retired from fisherbody(GM) in 78 he called anything but a gm a lemon especailly mopars the olds i now own used to be his

me personnally, i do not have any kind of luck from gm's except bad unless its a pontiac theyve allways been good to me

i love all old AMERICAN cars and i believe if you have a ford it should be ford mopar =mopar etc etc

BUT if i do buy an old chevy unless its a 6 cyl or a big block ill have to pull the sbc and put a ford or mopar engine in it because I HATE SMALL BLOCK CHEVIES and they hate me

and to the original poster no your not a trader ...youve just come in out of the dark LMAO

Good stuff. The Ford has been a lot of fun to play with over the last couple weeks. The old man wont get in it and we had to take the belair up to cruise night yesterday but he's en***led to his opinion too.
