If you are in fact locked up and when the bail thing comes up, having a job, family and owning a house are big factors in eligibility for determining bail. Same crime, one guy can walk out on RoR (released on recognizance) while the other is held until his court date.

 

This is the hot rod equivalent of idiots doing donuts. guy showing off turned into a dumb ass ruining a good day and hurting others.

 

I find it amazing that there is a lot of "jeez, didn't you ever do something like that?" or similar. What difference does that make? He did a really dumb thing and now he will have to pay for it in one way or another.

My opinion is that if anyone does this type of thing then he/she should stand ready for the consequences. He did it and will have to face the consequences. I'd be willing to bet that if he uses the "everyone does it" alibi he will be in more trouble than he could handle.
