Well, I signed up here on the H.A.M.B. back in 2002 and I've been a lurker off and on ever since. BARNETT has given me a hard time in the last year to get myself out of lurker status and do an intro so here goes. I'm Steve and I'm from Detroit, MI (Warren) and a proud founding member of The DEADBEATS. I'm a mechanic by trade and own 2 1950 Buick Sedanet's and a '65 Wildcat. I used to own a '65 Fairlane Wagoon but that gem has found a better home way south of Detroit in San Antonio...... I was at my first Pileup this year and I drove my '50. The time that I had there prompted me to finally get off my ass and do an intro. There are so many great and talented people here in HAMBland and so many opportunities to learn from them. The cars and bikes that everyone drives are a testament to what this hobby (or obsession) is all about. I was fortunate enough to be able to play at the HCP. I'm the drummer in the Swingin' Demons which was the first band to play the show on Saturday. I want to thank Hellfish and the Chrome Czars for the opportunity they gave us. I also want to thank all the folks that picked up a CD! We really appreciate it. We had a great time and the car show was absolutely stellar! The '50 I'm currently driving is still 6 volt, has a straight 8 with a three speed and is a work in progress. My other one is in pieces in the garage but will have a 364 nailhead and turbo 400 to get it around town. I have the engine in the basement just waiting to be assembled..........For those who care, my car was parked over with the Draggins near the Lunar Lander. It's a gray primed fastback with a windshield but no other windows. They will be reinstalled after paint in the spring...providing my lazy ass gets the rest of the bodywork done. That's where my bro Bill comes in! At some point I'll learn to post pics and put one up..... I guess that's about it. I look forward to learning a lot more here, meeting a lot of you great folks and maybe actually contributing as well. There is so much great info and knowledge here it is unbelievable. Thanks, DBF! Steve
Hey, Steve. Been a Demon's fan since my dad (who works with Jeff) gave me a cd. Glad you finally found the way.
DBF! Good to see ya here, Steve! You should try to get some pics posted of the Buick...I think everyone would really dig the work you're doin to it. You forgot to mention your chopper...c'mon...post some pics of your toys, man!
Here's the '76 Honda chopper that BARNETT wants to see a pic of. I realize it may belong on the Jockey Journal but here it is anyway. Pretty much all original........
Hey, Welcome aboard! Any friend of Dan's Really should find better friends!!!!!! Great lookin rides! And I'll pinch Dan on the ass for ya
Welcome aboard Steve. I saw your ride at Jime's in August. Very cool. I had my purple '47 Olds convert there parked next to Deadbeat Rudy's roadster. Anyway, glad to have ya here. See ya around the block sometime.
Denise, I'll assume from the fact you posted today; everyone made it home safe and sound? ! DEADBEAT, welcome aboard the .... uh ... the BOARD!
Welcome Steve! Saw your ride at the Pile Up, wish I knew there were "Deadbeats" there. Great club. Heard you guys play while "bending ears" during the show, you guys rocked! Joel
Thanks for the welcome everyone! I will try to post pics as I make progress on both '50's. I can't wait to get my 364 built.....I've got most of the goodies all set for it. Bored .040 over, very mild clevite cam, offy dual quad polished intake and all the poloished finned Eelco stuff as well. That makes it go faster, right??? Not looking for a racecar but something that will get out of it's own way. I still need to send the heads out to be rebuilt since that's not my specialty......I tell you, my first '50 had a straight 8 and a dynaflow and it was so smooth that you couldn't tell it was running but you could walk faster than it accellerated. It sure revved up like a sonofabitch and sounded like it was moving though! The 401 in my Wildcat kicks major ass with the switch-pitch turbo 400. For such a heavy car that thing moves! I bought that thing in '92 and that's when I fell in love with the nailhead. Can't wait to get this one built and drive the hell out of it. I'm heading to Phoenix(Wittmann) for the winter so I won't get much done on the stuff here but at least I get to miss another snowy winter. I'll have a company paid condo out there if anyone needs a break from the ice & snow..........Except for the weekend of Autorama. I'll definitely be home for that. Steve
More Buick guys hell yeah, Digg the Buick homie... Any Deadbeat is a friend of mine.. Hope you ain't a pistons fan! j/k.. Welcome.....
