There is a front seat track shield (inner) and outside of that is the front seat shield. The rear mounting points appear to be the same for both. If that is the case the seat shield has to rotate on that rear screw because it is attached to the movable track and the front of it is in a fixed position. Neither the manual or the exploded parts diagram in the catalog are very clear. Is there something I'm missing?

I sure wish I had a another seat to compare to. I have a bracket ***y for each end that might solve this puzzle. I'm guessing whoever owned this car last mixed and matched a bunch of parts to make it look complete for the ****er who bought it (me). What I am thinking is the seat shields don't use the tab that bends back under the seat, but instead use a couple brackets that attach to the seat frame. Here is the tab I speak of.

I have four of these and one I didn't use doesn't have this tab. I thought it was broken off but now I'm thinking it was made that way. I found some pictures in my tear down folder that shows this bracket ***y.

Installed they look like this. The two holes in the plate I am ***uming should match two holes in the seat shield and I should cut off the wrap around tab.

Could anyone who has a '54 Ford or Merc with electric seats take a look at theirs and let me know please.

For lack of responses I'm going to take a chance and cut the tab off, drill two holes and mount the bracket ***y. Wish me luck.

If anyone is interested, these are the tabs and the mod to the seat ends works.
