hey ya'll working on a 59AB and i want to replace the head gaskets. i think i'll just order a complete set. my question is what will the 59AB use? the pistons have 040 stamped in them so i guess it's been bored. it seems the more i learn about dating this engine, trying to find HP ratings, year etc, the more i need to learn so any and all info will be appreciated. thanks
I would buy a set of BestGasket composite head gaskets in their standard size. The standard sized gaskets (from any manufacturer) will handle you overbore (which is not much). If you want to learn more, I highly recommend purchasing some books that are specific to these engines. A great place to learn about these engines is VanPelt Sales. Also, you can buy parts/gaskets, etc. - from these two sources (and others). Both these guys really know these engines and can supply you with anything you may need: 1) VanPelt Sales: VANPELT SALES LLC - your ford flathead source since 2006 2) ThirdGen Auto: Early Ford Parts | Third Gen Automotive – Premium supplier of 1940's and 1930's Ford parts. Buy Ford parts safely and easily from our online store.
