Another HAMBAndy thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bruce Lancaster, Mar 20, 2009.

  1. I am willing to buy something to acknowledge the things that Andy's persistence and refusal to quit has done for me.

Sounds good. Might be a good idea for someone besides Ryan to carry the ball on this one. I can't imagine how full his plae must be running this little slice of heaven. besides he has already done his part by letting Andy be the focus of so much bandwith here.

I'm just suggesting here...I have no idea how to make a plaque, even, but know that there are several people here who can do this very well indeed.
The announcement of Andy's death will probably easily pass 1,000 posts and 30.000 views, and has been mentioned on other boards.
If even a decent fraction of those people respond, a plaque could be on a LOT of rods and quite possibly put a lot of money into those cancer foundations mentioned depending on how money beyond cost is handled.
BUT--the main point is that Andy had to check out before he could live more than a fraction of his dreams. There are Rodders on here who could put Andy plaques into the 200 MPH club, onto the cover of R&C, and onto significant, influential rods and customs of all sorts and somehow put him into a whole life of rodding and friends.

  8. Great idea, Bruce! Another suggestion would be a window decal so the whole world could see it a little easier (if you are running a hood). I'm in for what ever is made.

This sounds like a great idea.
For those of us that aren't Alliance members, this would be a great way to spot fellow HAMBers

OK...this must be how the stockmarket crash happened...lots of orders, no merchandise.
It is just an idea...we need to think it through, see if the inner echelons of HAMB approve, and find someone who knows how to sling aluminum!

    Demand and supply, right Bruce?
    Great idea.

    I'd love to have one.
But.. I'd like to know that his folks have expenses covered before giving to a charity.
Don't get me wrong! Giving is good.
I just think that they have had enough to deal with and if money to help cover any costs they have incured would help them directly, I vote for that.
I mean.. we can give to local charities anytime the $$ are available and the mood strikes us.
Andy's folks might be able to use the help. Maybe not. If not; GREAT!
Either way it's a great idea.

Gizmo, I think the response to the death announcement shows that a LOT of people care. If this idea can be developed, I think it can raise significant money to be put where it would help the most. After battling cancer for several years, there are surely some needs!

Exactly. We have a "free" health-care system here but it's like anything else that is free... it isn't completely free. And when you live outside the big cities travel alone can be a bank account breaker.
Bruce, I hope I didn't come across negative. I just got off the road from 7 hours of driving so I'm not exactly "with it". ;)

Wasn't there a thread about how to make your own dash plaque or something like that? KIRK! maybe? I'm searching but not in TECH. Off to the main board. I may have something that can help but I don't know yet.

  29. Bruce great idea and Gizmo you do not come across negative at all to me.

I think/feel that the family should be given the proceeds and let them decide what to do with it....to cover expenses that have accrued, to give to a charity, to squirrel away in an a bank account to help down the road. Hell I wouldn't care what they did with it. If they have half the heart and character that he did, and I'm sure they do, they'll do the right thing....Andy had to have learned it from someone and it sure wasn't from the AIG types.

    I'm in for a couple......
