Well I finally got around to this, have been around awhile and registered on the forum at last. My background in cars started with me driving the local GM product old Holdens, got into bikes for a few years, back into cars via Chev Impalas then hotrods,28 hiboy,30 roadster pickup and still have a 36 Ford (39 Merc flathead, dropped axle steelies etc) and am currently playing with another Holden the FJ utility.
I scored it from an auto trimmer who gave trimming away,I've had it for a couple of years now. He chopped it twenty years ago 2 1/2", retrimmed it in leather and had used it as his work truck. As you'd expect it needed a tidyup, I've redone the motor added twin carbs, bit of headwork and lumpy cam to wake it up, the brakes are relined and of course I had to add a heater for where we live.
The chop is a credit to the original builder its water and windproof and apart from some minor paint cracking the old truck has held up well.

Ok then, here is our 36 (yeah I know but I like the look of old style pics) I put the engine shot in colour so you'll see the colour is burgundy.
I did a cut and shut to lower the spare wheel carrier,it just sat too high. Notice the registration plate is the same as the FJ Holden's, rego costs are too high for me to keep the FJ and Vicki's everyday car as well as the 36 on the road at the same time so at the moment the 36 is parked up in the shed.

Very nice! I know what you mean about registration and insurance costs; I could build another car with what it would cost to keep all my projects legally drivable!
