Well, it’s not all successes and glory. When I added two inches to the quarter window opening, it made the section around it longer. The old headliner wasn’t wide enough to cover the elongated opening. I have a little extra material so I guess I’ll glue in a few patches to cover the bad spots. Oh well, could be worse. Those flip out rear windows and how cleanly you built those is one of the stories on how nicely done this car is. Others building Mercs should study your vision and execution. Another bad ass Merc getting ready to hit the streets, congrats so far.

Some members of my entourage had some late minute schedule conflicts that would put me going by myself. So it looks like some local shows and cruise ins until August. I plan on doing the KKOA event at Maggie Valley. Then the Old North State Invitational in Sept.

Install the belt molding spears, spotlights, and sombreros. Close to a wrap. IMG_6696.jpeg

Well, that’s a wrap for now. Time to enjoy the cruise. Thanks to all who followed along on this chop journey. Long live Custom Cars! IMG_6711.jpeg

Sure wish I could have made it. The pics I saw showed lots of beautiful cars there. A gorgeous bunch of Merc too. Maybe next year. Til then, I'm going to really enjoy her as much as I can.

  25. What if you just added some extra metal to the back of the garnish moulding to fill in the gap.

  26. My favorite Merc, the '51 beats them all. Someone by me has a comparable in red, also an outstanding build.
