So sorry to hear that man, we used to have a huge three trunk oak in our backyard in our old place and I used to poop rocks when the wind would kick up nice and good, knew one of these days I'd be in bed getting rained on with some giant oak sharing the room with me.

Seriously though, I know that you are probably furious/upset/etc, but once that tree is gone, you may be surprised how fixable it is. It's a huge setback, seems like most of life is, but s****ping it would seem to be a bigger setback. That looks like a nice car!

Looks like it already went to the crusher. Hope that is crusher you meant because looks like a new top will fix most of that and rest of car looks salvageable and worth saving.

Hell, that'll buff right out. See what insurance will do for ya and go from there. They might finance your chop.

Hard to make lemonade out of a turd...The right 1/4 is seperated from the roof. The hood is caved. The driver door is bent down. The decklid is destroyed. The owner of the house next door (his tree) told me he's calling his insurance company. It's a rental. We'll see what happens.

Pete - as a fellow shoebox owner, I feel your pain. It can be fixed, its only metal. Let Grundy take care of you and have them go after your neighbor's insurance. Like Wicked50 said, let them finance your chop.

    It can be saved!!!!!!!
As long as the frame isn't tweaked, and even then there are lots and lots of parts to save.

Unless either of you knew it was a dangerous tree and it was a known issue, it will just be chalked up to an act of nature. Your homeowner's insurance will need to cover it, if you have any, since the damage was on your property. Doesn't matter if the tree was on his side or not. And it won't be his decision, his insurance just likely won't pay. Nothing personal, just the way insurance works. Your car insurance might cover it if your homeowners won't. If you don't have either, then unfortunately just likely out of luck.

Don't mean to throw water on your hopes. Regardless, if looks salvageable to me, but not an easy job for someone not into it obviously. Good luck with it.

Meh, put a right quarter on the kid's car in 8 hours last weekend. you can replace the hood. You can replace the driver's door. You can replace the decklid. the top has already been discussed.

Yeah, the trans is out of it. It's in the shed apart. I wouldn't be suprised if that leads to a bent frame.

Thats the way it works here as well. From what I understand you own whatever part of the tree that ends up on your property and the neighbor is not responsible from a legal stand point.

I had a pretty good sized tree fall across our neighbors fence and into their yard a few months ago while we were out of town. I had someone go and fix his fence and cut the tree up and remove it just in the name of being a "good" neighbor but wasn't required to nor had they asked.

Hate to see any car have a tree fall on it,not a good situation for sure.

  25. If that was caused by a wind storm, highly UNlikely the neighbor's insurance will pay. (However unusual things happen sometimes.)

If the neighbor actually caused that limb to fall, maybe his insurance will
    cover.

A nieghbor's tree fell on my Plymouth......no coverage from homeowner.
And, I did not have the car itself covered since it wasn't quite driveable
yet. I was just S O L. Hopefully you have coverage under comprehensive.
    They say Grundy is good.

Sounds like you have even more damage than I did.

Gave mine to the son in law......who is attempting to put on new doors
and a new top, plus generally straighten it back up.
We shall see how it all pans out. Good luck on yours.

my neighbor has a really tall cottonwood...some of it is already dieing...I worry everytime a storm comes up. I really need to go over and have a talk with him...probably take a picture. Cottonwoods are notorious for crackin' up in a storm...especially really old one.
Good luck with the Ford. Sad to see. Too bad you didn't have room for it inside.

I doubt there's frame damage but I would look it over real good for peace of mind. As for the rest it can be fixed just depends on how much you want to put in it.

Oh and you might not be able to make lemonade out of a turd but you can polish a turd mythbusters proved it.:D
